Up…or down?

June 21, 2011 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Just Me, Minnesota Me, Spiritual Growth 10 Comments

It is a great honor to you who are married that God, in His design to multiply souls who may bless and praise Him for all eternity, causes you to cooperate with Him in so noble a work.

— St. Francis de Sales

It seems like everyone’s thinking about Father Corapi these days—everyone except my two-year-old, that is.

I’ll tell you.

George’s innocence uplifts me.

If you need my opinion on the matter—which you probably don’t—you can see it in comment form over at Barbara’s blog. Better yet, skip my comment and go straight to this post at Conversion Diary, which is the best and most beautiful analysis I’ve read.

And believe me, I have read a few.

I imagine you have, too.

Today, however, I am moving on. It’s Dentist Day—hooray! Hooray! (What? Did you not receive the memo?) My husband and I meet with an orthodontist at 8:00 to discuss my second son’s “shark tooth”, which has formed a row of its own and which is so bad that the treatment is being proposed in phases.

And then, at 10:00, I’m having a wisdom tooth extracted. You know what that means, don’t you? Any wisdom I may have had will be gone as of noon this day!

What’s left?

Well, there’s always faith, of course.

And then there’s hope…and then there’s love.

Most of my husband's family had that same shark tooth situation so I am just waiting for it to show up in one of mine. I can't believe you still have a wisdom tooth! I thought it was standard procedure to just yank them all. Prayers for you!

Re: The Corapi situation…when you look at his life prior to the faith, if it is indeed true, and you look at the changes that have happened in his life here in the past few years, I don't think it's unreasonable to wonder if he isn't suffering from some kind of mental health crisis and if he is, he may not be entirely culpable for his decisions or actions right now. I pray that he gets the help he needs.

Let us know how that wisdom tooth extraction works out. I still have all four, and am thinking they need to come out. Let me know how good the pain drugs are. 😉

Don't forget the gaping hole in your mouth that you'll be left with! 🙂 But I'm sure George can make you forget all about it. What a little cutie he is!

Barb, I have all 4 too… just shows how wise we are.
    heh heh

Prayers for you, Margaret! I'd be cowering in the corner with the spit sucker as defense.

Re: Fr. Corapi… I've read a bit, but am mostly just praying for him. I barely have time to sit at the computer much less issue forth my thoughts.. which have little to do with Fr, I'm afraid, and more to do with Little Dude's diet.. (solids, yay)… and exercise…(almost crawling..wow!) lol

    Love to you and yours!

Ladies! I'm passing the time in between appointments at a Bruegger's Bagels. Your comments are starting to freak me out!

Prayers please, not "ouchy ouchy ouchy." 🙂

It's me again! You know I was just teasing with that comment, right?

And I'm done! In and out in 20 minutes. The only thing that hurt was when her hand slipped and she biffed me in the nose.

    Seriously.

Now, however, my face is puffed up like a sausage and I'm off to get the pain meds. It's not the extraction that hurts, I'm thinking; it's the healing!

Words of wisdom from the Wisdom Toothless.

    Margaret,
Sharing dental pain with you! I had my wisdom teeth out while I was in college (perhaps poor timing).

But I had a root canal yesterday. You know what's one thing worse than needing a root canal? What's worse is when the dentist says that I have a "complex" tooth and an infection and it needs to be done in 2 phases! Then he said I kept his day from being boring and had to show me the X-ray of the strange curved root that made me such an "interesting case!"

All that, today is better than last night and last night was better than after the first step.

Eat soft things longer than you think you need to — or something will irritate it.

Enjoy — pudding, milkshakes, yogurt, hmmm — with that and pain meds I can get through this!

Wishing quick healing! (Don't forget to use ice packs!)

Praying that you heal as quickly and painlessly as I did, Maggie. Used painkillers for about 6 hours. Seriously. No problem, hardly noticed they were gone. Did three at once….. and the fourth when it finally grew in and abscessed several years later. No problems at all. Ate a hamburger the next day, against advice, of course, but no repercussions.

My husband still has all four, still impacted. He's a chicken. 😉
    Love and blessings~
