An Excellent Idea for All Saints’ Day

September 25, 2008 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Minnesota Me, Reviews 12 Comments

When I was asked to review a couple of the costumes from Our Coats of Many Colors, I hesitated. This would mean, of course, that I’d have to choose…and how does one choose from all these beautifully sewn options?

I felt very much like little Thérèse: I choose all.

Alas, such gluttony was not an option. I finally narrowed my selections down to St. Rose of Lima and St. John Neumann; waited excitedly for about a week; and was thrilled when an elegantly wrapped package appeared on my doorstep.

[And then I tormented my daughters by saying, “Those are for a review and you can’t play with them until it’s written.”]

Ha! Their persistence was such that I caved within two days. I will have to warn you, though: These costumes are so well-crafted that you will be tempted to save them for a special occasion like All Hallows’ Eve and/or All Saints’ Day. They are that lovely.

Don’t do it. Don’t give in to that temptation,

because these costumes are made to delight and inspire. Yes, they will be wonderful come All Saints’ Day…

…and they are wonderful every day in between.

I am already planning my next purchase. : )

*Note: Our Coats of Many Colors is running a special through the end of September. 10% off all costumes! Click here to see the female saints, and here to see the male saints.

And for another review from another mom, visit Karen Edmisten.

All for the greater glory of God,

Very nice, but Miss Cate looks way too grown up in that costume!

I did not need to see this. I was on that site and my desire to purchase was very hard to beat back. My younger two have been wanting to go trickortreating this year (we do some years, we don’t others – mainly ‘cos costumes are expensive and cheaply made; these obviously are made well – they’re still not cheap). OY vey! The choices! Great stuff, though!!

Oh, Mags, Ramona chose St. Rose of Lima, too! So sweet to see your sweetie in the same beautiful dress! And I love your little Cardinal!

They are lovely. If only they didn’t cost so much!

I would LOVE to be able to get some of those costumes. They look amazing, but I just can’t manage to spend so much for all three of the kids to get costumes.

Thanks for the review though! It’s good to hear that they are so nice.

    Your children look lovely!!

I too debated on spending so much (how awesome to be able to do a review!!), but ended up ordering a couple a few weeks ago and when they arrived, I was not disappointed! They are awesome, and worth every penny.

In fact, my very frugal hubby even encouraged me to order another for our youngest daughter! So, in addition to the St. Therese and the Jesuit costumes, the St. Clare is on it’s way as well. 🙂

I thought I had posted a comment, but it seems it take. Those costumes are beautiful, but I do wish they were a bit cheaper. I guess the material must be that good. Your kids look just wonderful in them!

Lovely outfits. These aren’t simply dress up clothes, they are lovely reminders of those who wore them. Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing, thanks for the link, terrific post.

Your children are so beautiful in those costumes! I say, wear them as much as possible. Think, you could have them act out plays on the lives of the saints! At home….or at the park! So many little ones never get a glimpse of our friends in heaven.

You know, seeing your son in that costume is making me ache for a boy in our house!

Beautiful! So expensive! What an awful temptation for moms on a budget. So much better to make your own and get the little ones involved. Take a look at http://www.livingcatholicism.com/archives/2007/10/catholic-hallow.html for some down to earth ideas that don’t encourage irresponsible spending during hard times.
