Hearth & Home(schooling) Humor

November 3, 2009 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Homeschooling, Humor, Minnesota Me 6 Comments

Upon arriving at the breakfast table this morning, Angela announced, “I’m so hungry I could eat the crusts!”

* * * * * * *

Jem was asked to give the abbreviation for “pound”.

“I haven’t learned this!” he protested.

“Yes, you have,” I rejoined gently. “Cate, do you know the answer?”

Cate was equally stumped but said, in her defense, “Jem’s in the grade ahead of me and his work is harder. That’s why I don’t know the answer.”

I went to the fridge and got out a box of Velveeta cheese. (Yes, we eat Velveeta cheese sometimes. Leave me alone.) Silently I pointed to the “2 LB” label on the box.

Jem peered at it closely and then…

“Oh! I thought you meant dog pound!”

You can see I’ve got my work cut out for me.

    Thank you, Jem, for that laugh! Don't let your mama fool you — she loves those answers!

    Don't sweat it on the Velveeta … I keep a stash here, too. It's an ingredient in one of our favorite soups.

    Your kid-isms are hilarious. My 6yo loves to eat crusts and he asks for them regulary from his more discerning siblings!
