In a Mood

September 30, 2008 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Just Me, Minnesota Me 10 Comments

Back in the early days of my marriage, I would find myself prone to a certain…sensitivity. This is not to say that I’m never sensitive these days, only that it occurred with greater frequency when we were first married.

I developed a system for letting my husband know—mildly, I thought—that his behavior was annoying me. This is not to say that I myself was never annoying, only that this is my blog and I can talk about whatever I want whenever I want because it’s my blog.

The system was:

Husband would exhibit annoying behavior. Perhaps it would be teasing me as I was trying to make supper. Perhaps it would be making a joke about the dinner once I’d served it. Anyway. I would turn to my beloved and say—mildly, I hoped—“You’re in a mood, aren’t you?”

And that would be his cue to stop.

Well, today it’s I that am in a mood. School went fine so that’s not it. Rather, I am annoyed because my driver’s license expires on Thursday (hint hint) and I despise going in for a photo. I am annoyed because I (very reluctantly) got out of my cozy running pants & “Catholics Against Kerry” t-shirt. I dressed in a nice skirt (not that it matters) and black sweater. I let my hair out of its pony and even curled it. Finally, I applied make-up.

Is this where I went amiss? Because something went terribly wrong with the process and my right eye won’t stop watering. It is itchy and red and I look like I’ve been drinking, which, all things considered, doesn’t sound half bad right now.

Except I’m too annoyed for that.

I’m all dressed up and I have somewhere to go.

But I can’t go.

It’s annoying.

Begging your pardon for the rant, I am,

    ACK!!!ME TOO!!!
Only for me I was going to get my Alaska license, and I did all the dressing up and make-up thing, went down to the DMV, took the blasted written test, passed(!) barely(!), and then they wouldn’t give me my license because although I had brought my NC license, my social security card, my birth certificate, and proof of residency, I did NOT bring my marriage certificate! AAAAAGGGGHHHH!!!!
Now I have to go back again and it is snowing.
    Phooey.

My purse was stolen a few weeks ago and I went to get a replacement drivers liscense, I had made myself photo ready, got to the DMV, found it wasn’t there anymore despite my checking the web site before going…..Finally found the new building, went inside and was told I needed two forms of ID to get a liscense. MY PURSE WAS STOLEN WITH MY ID! I wanted to scream at the rude lady. Went home dug up some of the forms of ID deemed acceptable by the DMV and went back to find new person there. Much nicer. He said they’ve had trouble with that lady. By then I wasn’t as photo ready but I really didn’t care. Aggrevating! I am assuming Minnesota is similar in that to KS since ourse expire on our birthdays, so if that is so…Happy Birthday. Mine is tomorrow.

Just how old is that makeup? You are supposed to replace it at least every especially makeup that goes on or around the eyes.

I know I don’t keep on top of my old makeup like I should but when I discovered the eye shadow I wore for my wedding 9 years ago I knew it was time to throw some things away.

In Texas we can renew on line and the picture stays the same. You can look 10 years younger on your driver’s license because well, you were ten years younger. 😉

I’m sorry, but you crack me up. You are beautiful, watery eyes and all. 🙂

You know, there is not much that really sends me over the edge than dressing up and then whatever I was putting all that effort toward falls through! I can COMPLETELY relate to this post!

It’s probably too late to tell you this, but you might check to see if you can renew online. As someone else from Texas mentioned, we can renew online 1 time, then you have to go in 4 years later.

I went to renew my DL, and I wear glasses. The lady tells me to remove my glasses, and I asked “why, I have to wear them to see to drive?” and she said that doesn’t matter anymore. You don’t need to wear glasses in your picture, just have it noted glasses are worn. Seems to me that could cause a lot of problems somehow or other for people who might want to do bad things.
