Stopping to Smell the “Roses”

July 17, 2009 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Hearth & Home, Just Me, Minnesota Me 8 Comments

Wildflowers III

If it’s possible to slow down at the same time that we’re speeding along, then that is what we’ve been doing. There’s never an end to the work to be done—and I’m sorry to have to tell you that, but there’s just not—yet still, there’s an attitude of gratitude that makes all the difference.

I’m getting all mushy on you, aren’t I?

Okay, I’ll stop.

Wildflowers VI

We went for another walk yesterday—a long walk, with dog and baby and lots of kids. “There’s the spot,” Felicity noted, “Where I fell and dropped my flowers!” I noticed that she slowed down as she said it.

It’s all about slowing down, you see.

Not necessarily stopping—that’d be impossible—but rather, pausing.

Wildflowers V

As much as possible.

A semi passed us as we walked along. He tooted his horn and my son asked why.

I said, “He wanted to say Hi, I think.”

“Seeing you made him happy.”

Wildflowers IV

Now I don’t know if that’s true or not, but I know they make me happy.

Wildflowers and Weed

Big weedy moments and all.

A blessed Friday to you & yours,

    Oh, beautiful pictures!!!
I love that last one, that is my son exactly, the girls always ready with their poses and him yelling and trying to do "goofy" pictures!!

Glad you are slowing and speeding along. We picked some wild flowers by my clinic yesterday way far away from the clinic (it's surrounded by wildflowers) over by some woods (really far from it) and by the time we were finished and I loaded the van, the security guard had already come to tell us not to pick the flowers…he was nice about it though, what could he do? We'd already picked them! I did apologize though…

I always like to see siblings hanging out together. Amazing how those girls all look so different!
