South Beach Update #2

January 4, 2009 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Health & Wellness, Just Me, Minnesota Me, Pregnancy 9 Comments

…is on deck. I have much to say after reading your comments and emails (which have been wonderful and helpful and encouraging and wonderful), but first I must go on a date with my husband! Yep, my friend Tina has graciously offered to watch our brood this evening so we can go stare at Mr. Pitt.

Did I just say that?

In any case, my husband’s cuter.

More—much more—on this dieting stuff tomorrow. And thank you thank you thank you again, with all my heart (and every inch of my hips).

Oh come on! Brad Pitt? I’ve never understood that one. Enjoy your time with your husband though!

Oh hey, do be careful Margaret. You know, I gained more than EVER this last pregnancy. It got to be that I had a VERY hard time stepping up on the scale at my regular appointments. It was so hard to see that number and to feel the way I did. Boy was I surprised when baby was born and it turned out I had more FLUID than ever before. I lost 20 lbs giving birth–a real record for me. And I’ve dropped another 5 in the last two weeks without effort. Diet all you want after baby, but for now just eat moderately and choose healthy foods like fruits and vegetables and lean proteins! You are beautiful Margaret!

You are beautiful, Margaret! But, I understand the fretting as I’ve been fretting as well. I’m the biggest I’ve ever been pre-pregnancy. Big hugs to you!!!

    Margaret,
I stumbled on your cooking blog a few weeks ago…and I have one as well, “Kim’s Concoctions.” I am currently trying to lose weight too, b/c my hubby is doing Weight Watchers, so I want to support him and cook as healthy as possible. Feel free to check out my blog to see if any recipes fit the South Beach criteria.

Oh, one more thing, I gained 50 pounds my first pregnancy, and 45 each subsequent pregnancy. I totally understand how you feel!

And I like to stare at Sean Connery 🙂

    In Christ,
    Kimberly

Hope you enjoyed the movie! I stared at Brad on Friday night!!! I went with my girlfriend though, not my husband. Both of us were swooning half way through the movie. Wasn’t it good?

Have you heard of the Catholic Weight Loss program called Lightweigh?
It is awesome b/c it focuses on just what you said- self control over food.
Go check it out…you’ll be glad you did.
    Happy date night!
    God bless,
    Mary

I personally still think the weight has some connection to your recently diagnosed thyroid. I’m not looking for excuses, because if you’re eating poorly that’s part of the issue as well. Good luck in what ever you do Margaret. I do have to say that I think any dieting during pregnancy is not good. I think women are told enough during their lifetime how they should look. During the time they’re making a baby should not be one where they should worry about it.

I hope you enjoyed the flick! Dh and I saw it last week. We liked it. I did feel like I was watching another incarnation of Forrest Gump though.
What killed me was the scene where Benjamin dies. He was wrapped in MY baby’s blanket. Now I know where the set design people did some shopping….Target 😀

The real Brad Pitt fans will get this irony.
My baby, the one who has the same blankie that Benjamin Button dies in? His name is Tristan. Oooooooo
