I am breaking my blog fast already—I know! I know!—to thank the person responsible for the package I received in the mail today. It came from the National Shrine of St. Gerard in Newark, New Jersey (St. Gerard is the patron saint of expectant mothers) and included a prayer book, a medal, and a beautiful handkerchief with St. Gerard’s image on it that has been touched to his relic at the National Shrine.
I already know what I will do with the handkerchief—I will keep it draped over my burgeoning belly as much as possible. (The handkerchief’s plenty big, not to worry.)
Also enclosed in the package was a card that read, “Here are the materials you requested.” Well, I regret that “I” did not think to request them, but somebody did and if you are she—or he, I guess—then I thank you for your thoughtfulness. You will be in my prayers throughout this pregnancy because—hee hee hee, ho ho ho—God knows who you are even if I don’t.
I’m done gushing now. This blog will now resume its promised sound of silence.
