Red, White and Blue Jello Jigglers

July 6, 2008 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Food and Drink, Minnesota Me, Special Events 7 Comments

Look like this:

They tasted good and were gobbled up (once people figured out that the white ones weren’t cheese) but they did not taste as good as:

Danielle’s cupcakes, which disappeared from the tray in five minutes flat. I’m serious. I didn’t even get one and that’s not fair.

Photo credits go to my daughter, Cate, who asked to take pictures of both desserts because the cupcakes were “cute” and the Jello Jigglers were…well, to tell you the truth, I don’t remember why she wanted to take a picture of the Jello Jigglers.

I think I asked her, come to think of it.

Being a blogger and all.

You know.

Anyway, I’d like to express my gratitude for your kind responses to my “treatise” of two days ago. I knew you’d understand this yearning—a longing that is so near and dear and familiar to us Moms. My husband is different from me—gee, do ya think?—in that he doesn’t hover about the newborns at all the social functions like I do.

Yet he’d welcome another as quick as a wink and for that I’m truly thankful.

And that’s all for now, folks. I hope you’re enjoying your holiday weekend as much as we are. The weather here in Minnesota is sunny and hot—so hot, in fact, that the kids (and the husband) started to wilt during our afternoon walk and promptly passed out on our return.

Not me.

I curled up on the couch with an old favorite, The Penderwicks, which is the perfect summer read and did you see that her new book’s now available? (Okay, so it’s been listed on Amazon since April but I’m slow. You know that.) Evidently, in this latest tale Mr. Penderwick starts dating. I’m not sure how I’ll feel about that, let alone his four girls.

Must away. The early evening breezes beckon.

Ad Jesum per Mariam,

PS. We made a very yummy summer salad for supper tonight. I’ve posted it on my cooking blog.

Argh. I bought The Penderwicks and cannot find it. I’ve been looking for two weeks. You’re so cute, btw.

I love the pictures. 🙂 The cupcakes look so good. I can’t make cupcakes here. I would eat the frosting before they hit the cupcake itself. Straight from the can. How’s that for a sugar high/crash? 🙂 The salad looks wonderful. I’ll have to try it. Glad you’re having such a wonderful weekend!

Hmmm. The Penderwicks. Never heard of them until just now. I think I’ll be asking at the library. Among many. I have a habit of buying what the library can’t promise me straight up, but my wallet is aching for a break. I must wait it out if I must. Now, I’ll just go try and finish the Pope’s book on Jesus. I have a stack waiting for me after this one, too. Penderwicks sound good!

    BTW, love your jigglers!!

I read the new Penderwicks to the kids and I have to warn you. I cried. I cried at the beginning. I choked up in the middle. I cried at the end. It’s wonderful! 🙂
