Sunday Afternoon sur la Green Grass: a Picnic with Diane & Family

Diane and Me
My husband likes to take pictures of me talking.
Hmm…what’s his point?

This little sweetie pie has his mother’s eyes!

Diane’s husband, Jim, sharing a sweet Father’s Day moment with his daughter.

Are these all ours?!!

All I can say after this weekend is that there are benefits to living in a big city. People come to see you by default! And if ever I’ve wondered why I blog, well, getting to meet these two beautiful families answered the question.

I do, too, Jackie; I do, too! That is what these photos are really all about.

And Jen, you are welcome to come and play ANY time. If you read my blog (and aren’t Larry the Weird Lurker or anything like that), please know that we love company. I mean that.

And if you are reading these posts and feeling ever-so-slightly wistful that I have gotten to meet these wonderful women…please don’t. It just happened, and it happened allatonce. Alicia was in town for the Chesterton conference; that’s what brought her family to my door.

Dear Diane has family just south of here and was passing through on a cross-country trek. And that’s what brought her to my door. Except she didn’t come to my door; she came to my church and we went for a quick (altogether too quick, alas) picnic afterwards.

Anyway, I felt that some small explanation was in order. I worry (I always worry!) that you might think I fancy myself some sort of celebrity for having all these famous bloggers notice me…and that’s just not the case.

Long story short: if you’re in town please let me know!

    Hear that, Paula? šŸ™‚

Oh Margaret, I would have gone all the way to Minnesota just for you and your family—you are that wonderful!

And ladies, don’t be intimidated, but she is even more beautiful (inside and out) in real life.

My only disappointment was that it ended too soon. I needed at least a whole weekend. But I’m thankful nonetheless.

    Much love from South Dakota!

Yes, I agree that too short is unfortunately a word that still sticks in my head from our visit. You have a beautiful family and you’re a very gracious hostess – thank you so much for your hospitality. You can blame Dr. Thursday for the Van Hecklers comment, by the way. šŸ™‚
