…to bring you the following announcement:
I have turned off my comments for Lent.
Except for Sundays.
I hadn’t planned on making a formal announcement because I thought that, given my excessive love of comments, my decision would be obvious.
I am the sort of happily clueless person, by the way, who assumes that people get me.
More often than not, they don’t.
Which leads to angst, which leads to blogging, which leads to more people who don’t get me.
I apologize to those of you who have suffered undo frustration trying to find the comments option this past week and 1/2. I’ve been there; argh. And I thank you for taking the time to e-mail me and ask, “Is there a problem?”
Manna in the desert, those e-mails. : )
Anyway. Long story short: it is not the lack of social interaction I am seeking but the detachment. Are you kidding? I am 100 percent French Canadian. We are not known for our being detached.
And yet, that’s what I’m being called to by Our Lord.
“…that [we] might understand the mystery of the door and way (which is Christ) leading to union with God, and that [we] might realize that [our] union with God and the greatness of the work [we] accomplish will be measured by [our] annihilation for God in the sensory and spiritual parts of [our] soul.
“When [we] are brought to nothing, the highest degree of humility, the spiritual union between [our] soul and God will be effected.” (St. John of the Cross)
Love to you & your families & a blessed First Friday to all. See you Sunday.
