An Advent Answer to Prayers

December 22, 2006 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Gratitude, Minnesota Me 1 Comment

Do you remember the little boy who was hospitalized with a glucose level of 3?

He’s home. : )

I received the following e-mail this morning and was given permission to share it with you all. In this time of stress and preparation, let’s keep our eyes focused on our Infant King and not forget to count our many, many blessings.

Dear Friends and Family,

We write with much joy and peace tonight — we wanted you to know that John was discharged from the hospital tonight, and is now home and fast asleep in his own bed. What a journey we’ve walked in the past few days! John’s glucose levels are stable at normal levels now, though it is clear that his body has a lot of healing work to do before he’s back playing and bumping around like 3 year olds ought to be.

There will be lots of follow-up to do in the next week with several doctors and some outstanding test results. The working theory as we are putting the puzzle pieces together is that John’s body was probably fighting a virus for the past 2 weeks and over that time, his body was trying to cope and fight it but it eventually wore him down to a very alarming condition. We’ll be seeking more answers on this in the coming weeks. But for now we are grateful, SO grateful.

As we celebrate with our boys when their prayers are answered, we too are celebrating because our prayers –and YOURS — in the past couple of days were answered in an amazing way. Though Jason and I had some moments of worry and there were plenty of emotions through this ordeal, we always had peace and knew – truly – how close God was to us and we could feel His care for John and for us throughout.

I suspect that Christmas will hold a deeper gratitude and awe for us this year. Please do us a favor – give your kids an extra hug tonight, and rejoice, praise, and thank God with us too.

In gratitude,

Molly & Jason
