Who am I kidding, anyway? I’m just an ordinary mom with a stupid little blog.
And Philip Seymour Hoffman was just an actor.
There are voices in our heads—more so in the artistic types, perhaps—that constantly try to define who we are by comparing us to what we are not. We look for love and seek affirmation constantly; we overeat, get drunk, get high; we look online, we look in the mirror, we look everywhere but where we should.
There are voices in our head that whisper at us and sometimes shout: Who you are doesn’t really matter.
Ask me how I know this and I will tell you the truth.
I hear these voices every day.
- I {try to} drown them out by praying hard.
- I wait for the storm to pass and it {almost} always does.
- I look at the people in my life…and there are eight…I am blessed!…and I think, “If it weren’t for me, they would not be here.”
It’s not prideful at all for me to think this. It’s God’s plan for my life. It’s how He’s used my “yes.”

I’m sorry for the heavy post today. It’s just…these untimely deaths always shake me up.
I am speaking from my heart and hope my words do you good. You are loved. That is all.
That is all and that’s everything.
You are loved.
You matter.
You are LOVED.
