“The Independence Day Edition”
Feeling thankful today for so many things, not the least of which, our freedom.
My daddy fought hard and fierce for this freedom. “Whoa,” I once said to him, putting down the WW II book I was reading. “Some of those Japanese soldiers were mean!”
“Well, yeah,” he responded. “They were shooting at us.”
Thankful today for my little family, and for the simple pleasure of going to a parade.
Thankful for goofy, squinty eyed little girls…
…and for her bright blue Popsicle tongue, even though she’s sticking it out at me.
Thankful that my husband survived his first (half) marathon…
…and that you don’t have to smell this shirt. Uffda. *I* deserve a medal for getting close enough to take a picture.
What else? Well, I am feeling especially thankful for these Pinterest-perfect Independence Day cupcakes…
…and only regret that we’re not going anywhere today so that I could brag about my baking skills.
(My undiscriminating kids still ate them and proclaimed Mom’s “epic fail” delicious.)
(They’re chocolate cupcakes. That’s all it takes.)
What else? There’s no more else right now! Happy Independence Day, everyone! Have fun, stay safe, and please don’t forget to thank God for your freedom. We owe Him pretty much everything.

You don't need anything else. This is more than enough! Special blessings to your dad, he is a hero for helping to keep the world safe. My grandad was in Asia during WWII and I know from his enduring silence just how bad things were.
Congratulations to your husband, I don't know anyone in my life who could run a half marathon. Impressive.

I always say mothers deserves medals (or extra time off purgatory) for having to pick up boys' underwear from the floor and smell if they are clean. My girls do laundry, but they draw the line at touching boys' socks.
Your winking daughter looks so much like your husband in that photo!
