“But when your days are happy PINK, it’s great to jump and just not think.”
–from My Many Colored Days by Dr. Seuss
You may not be feeling the joy, I know.
Your day may be dark and your heart, heavy. Your mind might be cluttered by a thousand obligations; your perspective skewed; your home, a mess.
Look for the pink.
Look for the pink wherever you might find it; look for the joy and don’t deny it.
It might come to you in the form of a child, who despite his naughtiness is scrinchy-nosed cute…
…and who despite his demands is desperate for you.
It might come in the form of a “Do you need something, Mom?”
“Can I rub your shoulders?”
“What can I do?”
It might come in the form of an apology.
And you know you must forgive.
It might come in the form of this book by the Duggars, this song by George Winston, or a cup of tea.
Finally, it might come in the form of a loving husband, who wipes your tears and understands. Who sits with you as you work your way through it…
… and who is there when, by grace, you finally do.
Not going to deny it, my friends—there’s a wee bit of SAD going on around here! I need me I need me one of those lamps, I can tell; I need me some Jesus, and I got Him, this morning! I am grateful—so grateful—for the gift of the Eucharist…and for the colors today of purple, green and pink.
I love the colors of purple, green and pink.
