“Coming from an unsuccessful background, I had developed deep feelings of inferiority and inadequacy. I had fallen into the mental trap of assuming that people who were doing better than me were actually better than me. What I learned was that this was not necessarily true. They were just doing things differently, and what they had learned to do, within reason, I could learn as well.”
–from Eat That Frog! by Brian Tracy
Needless to say, I am loving this book.
(And am making lists.)
(And am planning.)
(And am thanking God for this desire to be do better.)
Happy Feast of Corpus Christi! We will be at our sons’ (plural) baseball tournaments this morning, which means the “sinners’ Mass” at 5:00 p.m. tonight! : )
(Oh, don’t be scandalized.)
And plus I finally got my Nikon back (the whole crazy tale was explained in this post) from Michael Z. at my holy hour this morning! Gosh, it’s good to be reunited with my precious.
Here’s a photo from the card that was in it, a beautiful witness to today’s great feast:
Let us sing to the Lord!
Behold, our God is here.

How will you be celebrating today?

OK, I have requested that book from the library! I have enjoyed the couple of quotes you have posted from his book. VERY glad you and your camera are reunited 😉

We prefer the term "last call Mass," dear friend.

I held back last post. But I cannot any longer. I've never read the book – but this is what comes to my mind. It's titled "Don't Ever Give Up"

Hmmmm, Margaret.
Reading over the quote from the book, are you sure you mean to thank God for a desire to "be better?"
Are you sure you don't mean to thank God for a desire to "do better?"
Isn't the point of that quote to remind us that doing better is not the same thing as being better?
minnesotamom says
Yep, that's what I meant, Erin!

As in…a desire to not feel prideful when my friend corrects me in charity.
Ha!

I love that the Church gives you a second chance, an extra opportunity, a loving pass, to celebrate the Mass amongst the obligations of a busy life. Seems to me its less about forgiving sinners than always being there for the community. 🙂 But what do I know, I am just an outsider gazing in upon the light and beauty of the Catholic Church.

I'm going to look into the book…the quote grabbed my attention.
As far as today goes; it's the hubby's birthday and he has requested complete quiet. As in no vists from them family.
Poor guy is too pooped out to even want cake!
Be blessed!

Hi Margaret, I don't say "hi" too often, but I'm a regular reader. I had to comment today though, because my son and daughter were also in the VBS at Holy Family this year. I loved the closing ceremony.
I also have to add that I also saw your oldest son carrying around "George" in the back of the church where I was standing with my two youngest–and every time I tried to take a picture of the kids singing in the church, your son would (unknowingly) walk right into the picture! I have about 3 pictures of the back of your sons head!
If I ever get around to downloading them, I will email them to you!

I thought the "last call" mass was at 9 pm Sundays in Dinkytown…
minnesotamom says
Oh my goodness, yes! I haven't been to that Mass since the BC* years of my marriage.
