This is a fun one.
According to rules of the game, (ht: SFO Mom), “Go to your music player of choice and put it on shuffle. Say the following questions aloud, and press play. Use the song title as the answer to the question. NO CHEATING.”
I’ll confess that I’m a little bit red-faced about some of these musical revelations, especially after this publishing this bridge-burning post back in December. I feel it necessary to provide a disclaimer: I use my iPod primarily on the treadmill, and heck if I could ever run to Bach.
Maybe you could. More power (and mileage) to you.
And so we mean it when we say “No Cheating.” You’ll be tempted skip over some of the more embarrassing or inappropriate songs, guaranteed.
Like when a song titled “Devil Inside” turns up as one of your more self-defining pieces.
Without further ado, then, here’s the meme:
How does the world see you? “Living in Danger” (Ace of Base) Is this a reference to my having started this blog in the first place?
Will I have a happy life? “Strength” (Gear Daddies) Certainly that’s required. That’s why I lift weights! ; )
What do my friends really think of me? “Joseph all the Time” (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) As in, “Margaret, Margaret, is it really you?”
Do people secretly lust after me? “She gathers Rain” (Collective Soul) Silly question; cool song.
How can I make myself happy? “Devil Inside” (INXS) I chose to interpret this as meaning that my path to happiness is kicking him out rather than letting him stay there.
What should I do with my life? “Enid” (Barenaked Ladies) I have ‘Meg to thank for all the BNL selections on my iPod. So if my life’s decisions include making friends like ‘Meg and exercising to fast and funny little tunes by this band, hey, I’ll take it.
Will I ever have children? “The Loved One” (INXS) Sigh.
What is some good advice for me? “The Brothers come to Egypt” (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) So, like, when I’m sold by my family and thrown in jail, I should remain hopeful? Because one never does know when a high-ranking appointment is forth-coming.
How will I be remembered? “Any Dream will do” (Joseph’s Coat soundtrack again) Actually, I’m more discerning than that.
What is my signature dancing song? “Second Hand News” (Fleetwood Mac) Now that’s appropriate, given that I almost always start my work-out with this song.
What do I think is my current theme song? “Folsom Prison Blues” (Johnny Cash) Ha. On some days, I’d agree. (Don’t tell my children.)
What does everyone think my current theme song is? “Collide” (Jars of Clay) Well, I do tend to rush around a lot…
What song will play at my funeral? “Holy Spirit” (Third Day) Love the band; love the song. Don’t want it played at my funeral, though.
Which begs the question: what songs do I want played at my funeral?
What type of men / women do you like? “Drank so Much” (Gear Daddies) Not true, not true! Although there was that fateful moment (many, many years ago) when one of our friends approached the lead singer of this band to say “Dude! I love your music!”
And threw up all over his shoes. (That’s what they get for writing songs like that.)
And finally:
What is my day going to be like? “Lovers in a Dangerous Time” (BNL) I’ll agree. The life of a conservative Catholic and homeschooling mom is never easy. Philippians 4:13!
I tag ‘Meg and Karen!!! (You asked for it.)

I love this! Your songs were not bad Margaret. My husband is a music junkie … he loves anything MAC and his iPod is practically attached to his body (he listens to music, podcasts, books). I am sure that I will have some songs that may make one a bit wide mouthed.
I may have to steal this and tag some other folks 😉

Elaine: have at it! The original meme was an open tag….you wouldn’t be “stealing” it at all.

I don’t have an iPod, so no MeMe for me. However, I do have the funeral song! “My Way” — Frank Sinatra version only. And my family and friends know this WILL be played…

This is cute, I enjoy doing these too because your music always does tell something about who you are. Thanks for sharing. I should do one on here too.
Here’s the one I posted on mine.
God bless you and thanks for your blog

Oh, no! Tag me for something I can do! I don’t have an Ipod!
Atticus does, though — I guess I could use his running music … now *that* might make for some interesting answers. 🙂

Want to know the story behind “Enid”?
of course you do.
Apparently BNL were at some mom & pop diner in the praries of Canada, and their waitress’ name was Enid. They thought it was hilarious that her name was “dine” backwards…
