Updated Further to Add: AND we came home to a broken furnace. Still, this is nothing compared to what Kate in the com-box went through. Thank the Lord, indeed!
Updated to Add: 3 1/2 hours later and we’re finally home.
That was fun!
I am stuck in traffic during a MN storm, creeping along at three miles an hour.
It has taken one hour to drive three miles.
Please tell me a story.
PS. Charlotte, you’re a smart butt.

The Little Match Girl probably wouldn't be appropriate, huh?

A story…
Once there was a tremendous procrastinator who had a major paper due. Though she tried and tried, she simply could not get it done in a timely fashion. So she took a Friday off of work to blitz it, and is now slogging through journal and law review articles about the Americans with Disabilities Act. Who would have thought she'd take a break to check one of her favorite blogs, and be asked to help take the poor beleaguered blogger's mind off of Minnesota storm traffic?
🙂
I hope you are home for the night soon! I'll check back after the next article…um, I mean, the character in the story will…um…never mind. 😉

4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

No stories to tell, but I'm holding office hours at North Hennepin Community College right now. So, if you're stuck on 169 by Brooklyn Park/Osseo, stop in to the Library Foyer and I'm with a group of students working on final projects.

Here's a story: Coming back from the St. Agnes Grade School Christmas Program, my engine overheated, smoked, and died in the left lane of 94 (no shoulder) in bumper-to-bumper traffic, in a snowstorm! This is probably the last place you would want something like this to occur (but where would it ever be convenient?)
Terrifying, as semis passed a mere 12" from the right side passenger doors! Almost immediately, a lady stopped in front of me and asked if she could take us anywhere… and I said, "But I've got all these kids in my van! Just call 911." I just got those words out, when another lady pulled up beside me, rolled down her window and asked if I was OK. When I shook my head no, she somehow collaborated with the first woman and decided they would each take some of us. My 16 y/o son went in the first car with my handicapped daughter(who had just had surgery the day before!), and I went in the 2nd with my 10 & 12 year old boys. I don't know how we did this without getting creamed by a semi! (You know, good samaritans have actually been killed, stopping to help in this very location.) All this time my van was still smoking, so they told me, "You'd better get out of there!" So we abandoned the van… Turns out each of these ladies was headed toward our part of town, but it took another couple of hours to get there! On the way, I called my husband (another knight in shining armor), and he somehow intercepted the State Patrol and tow truck and got AAA to tow the van to our usual fix-it garage. (I had visions of ransoming our van from the impound lot!) I just cannot get over the AMAZINGNESS of how this all worked out. My little boys told our rescuer that she was our guardian angel. So was the other lady, along with her teenage daughters, who had urged her to stop. Everyone was unbelievably cheerful the whole time, too! Thank the Lord, thank the Lord.
