You’ve heard the expression, “It’s a dying art?” Same difference. There is a latent need for dissection hidden in every one of us, especially geeky science-minded homeschoolers.
A need to know what’s going on inside.
A need to shred.
And so it was that with a vaseful of tulips long past their prime, we got out the scalpels (not really) and we began…
…our mini-lesson on pollination and the different parts of a flower.
I kept it simple, given the broad age range of my students: Mommy parts. Daddy parts. Pistil, stamen, sepals, stem.
