Overheard This Morning

November 12, 2009 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Health & Wellness, Just Me, Minnesota Me 8 Comments

…When doing this DVD with my three little hens:

“Can you…make her…take a…break?”

Mind, we were only doing Level One.

And I needed that break as much as they did.

Oy Señor! I did this video after the birth of my 3rd. Well, I tried to do this video anyway. So, I have other children, a new baby, a house to take care of, homeschooling…why am I torturing myself with this video?? It was brutal. Your dtrs. are kind-my sons were my drill srgts. "She said no stopping!!" I later learned from my chiro that exercising like that is a waste of time. That isometrics-holding the tension in the muscle until it feels exhausted is effective-anything after that is not using your muscles. But, I haven't tried that yet either. Hmm…this is depressing…I need some chocolate… 😉

Et tu, my friend? I did this faithfully for about 45 days this summer and am just getting back to it again. My husband has been doing it faithfully the whole time, I'm just not an early morning exercise person!

Go, Mom! I wish I could find a few minutes to work out. I try going up and down the stairs "twice" when I need to use them (and think of it!). And, I try to get outside with the kids as often as I can… although, my very athletic teenage daughter seems to get that job more often than not since she a big kid herself. I also love to ride my exercise bike when I can, but there is usually some "crisis". I love being active, and I admire your discipline! Go, Mom!

Oh dear! Re-reading my comment in light of the two previous it sounds like I was trying to discourage you from exercising. Not at all! I apologize if that's how it came across. I was simply relaying the discouragement I received when trying such a difficult regimen. I initially bought the video because of the rave reviews-so it obviously works for some people. See? I get lots of exercise just from back-peddling! 😉

I too have started this video. Although, my little ones are always underfoot and running off with my weights. (I find them in the most interesting places – I now hide them.) BTW, I haven't been very consistent with this, but I would like to lose the weight before February (1st trip with dh ALL ALONE in 9 yrs – AND YES!!! WE'LL BE ESCAPING A MINNESOTA WINTER!)

Hear ya! I did that routine in the summer (and desperately need to get back to it) and it busted my butt. I mean, it's suppose to and all, but as someone who is pretty healthy and at a good weight it just didn't seem like it should've been that rough..ouch.
Leave it to Jillian to whip us all hard!! 🙂
