Food for Thought

November 9, 2008 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Minnesota Me, Motherhood, Prayer, Spiritual Growth 4 Comments

“I understand and I know from experience that ‘The kingdom of God is within you.’” Jesus has no need of books or doctors to instruct souls; He, the Doctor of doctors, teaches without the noise of words. Never have I heard Him speak, but I feel that He is within me at each moment; He is guiding and inspiring me with what I must say and do. I find just when I need them certain lights that I had not seen until then, and it isn’t most frequently during my hours of prayer that these are most abundant but rather in the midst of my daily occupations.”

From Story of a Soul, the Autobiography of St. Thérèse of Lisieux
(Manuscript A, Chap. VIII)

~ For my friend Cathie, with much love ~

I am reading that book right now. I find it hopeful to me that St. Therese had also never heard Him speak. I was beginning to wonder if I just don’t listen hard enough. 🙂

Thank you, sweetie. As always, you have such hopeful words for me. I keep going back to Psalm 127, reminding myself that I need to do all things for Him. He is with me.

God bless you for giving me the reminder I needed!

I so needed to hear that myself right now as we help our suffering child. I know it was written for Cathie, but I find it amazing that God found me the time to sit here and check your blog today.

    You inspire us all.
    Thank you
