An Advent Fast

November 30, 2008 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Blogging, Living Liturgically, Minnesota Me, Spiritual Growth 22 Comments

In honor of our dear Infant Lord and in order to better prepare my heart and home for the feast of Christmas, I will be taking a break from this blog for the next four weeks.

Have a blessed, beautiful Advent!

With much love and many blessings,

Updated a wee bit later to add: Please know that this will not be an easy four weeks for me! Nor do I think that my dear blogging friends of the heart should follow suit in a similar abstinence. Rather, this is the gift for Our Lord that I came up with—after considerable interior prompting, to be sure—because my attachment to this blog is so very strong.

In today’s meditation from In Conversation with God (Vol. 1), I read that “if we are aware that our sight is clouded and that we don’t see clearly the radiance emanating from Bethlehem, from the infant Jesus, it is time to rid ourselves of whatever impairs our vision. Now is the time for a specially good examination of conscience and for a thorough interior purification which will befit us to receive and to welcome that expected guest who is God.”

Isn’t that beautiful? Won’t it be worth it?

Finally, if anything should happen with our baby and this pregnancy, I will break my blog fast to let you know. Please pray that you don’t hear from me ‘til Christmas!

Updated a wee bit even later to add: So do you miss me yet? ‘Cause I certainly miss you.

I told you this wouldn’t be easy.

I hope you have a wonderful and blessed Advent season as well, but please let us know how you are feeling, and how the baby is doing, if necessary. But, I guess if you’re taking a break from the blog, we will just continue to keep you in our prayers.

Merry Christmas to you and your family!

And, OK, I’m glad you didn’t come here for Thanksgiving—but I do hope you all feel better soon!! Sometimes, God just makes us slow down whether we want to or not!

I hope you have a lovely Advent season, Margaret. I will be thinking of you daily (how will I get by without my daily MM fix?) and hope you and your family get over this bug real soon. I know you and the baby will be just fine and can’t wait to see an update photo of the bump! Enjoy this lovely time of year, try and take it easy and enjoy your beautiful family.

    Warmly,

    Joolz 🙂

We will miss you! But throughout Advent we will pray for a blessed and peaceful Advent for you and we will also pray that your little ones stays safe. Myself – I could have a baby anytime between now and the early New Year. I guess now and then you will just have to take a peek to see if we have or not! 🙂

GOD BLESS you and yours this Advent Season – looking forward to ‘seeing’ you again come Christmas!

I will miss the ray of sunshine you always are, dear Margaret, but I do know just what you mean. I felt compelled to give Jesus the gift of silence…so it’s my iPod that’s turned off. (The torture! the pain! the struggle!)

Looking forward to the feast of Christmas, in part because it means we’ll have the gift of you back! 🙂
