Distracted as I’ve been by the events of the past few days, I hadn’t planned much for this week’s visit by Pope Benedict. Being a little late is not too late, however! Here are some of the activities that we plan to do today:
- Follow the coverage on EWTN, naturally. This is one of the times that I would have loved to have cable television! Oh well, the streaming video on our kitchen computer will have to do. Two of my dearest friends are in Washington right now, having arrived at midnight last night after a 22-hour drive. Crazy ladies. Since I am watching two of their young men for part of the time while they’re away, we will be watching and looking for some familiar faces in the crowd! Wish us luck.
- We will learn about the life of Pope Benedict XVI using the biography on this website;
- We will do the reproducible activities provided by this website (an awesome resource!);
- And finally, we will celebrate our beloved Pope Benedict’s 81st birthday, of course! I think we’ll make cupcakes filled with Bavarian cream—quick but delicious!
Have I mentioned that we love our pope? I know that you do, too, and this is such an exciting time to be members of Christ’s body.
The grandest of welcomes to Pope Benedict XVI! And Happy Birthday to him!
Ad majorem Dei gloriam,
