Thought for the Day

April 18, 2008 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Living Liturgically, Minnesota Me, Spiritual Growth 5 Comments

From today’s Gospel:

“Let not your hearts be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going; how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me.” (John 14: 1-6)

    Margaret,

Thank you for sharing today’s Gospel. I was reading a commentary/meditation on this passage Fr. Bartunek, the author, starts the commentary on each Gospel passage with a quote from the saints. I ran across this quote which I thought might bring some comfort:

“Contradictions, sickness, scruples, spiritual aridity, and all the inner and outward torments are the chisel with which God carves his statues for paradise.”–St. Alphonus Ligouri

It is a comforting and joyous knowledge to know that Jesus is preparing a place for us. We can’t even fathom how grand it will be, but based on the beauty here, what a PROMISE!!

Let not your hearts be troubled. I struggle with my heart and worrying so much about life. It is good to read that again.

After watching Pope Benedict today, ohhhhh I am so full of “heart” felt joy. He is such an amazing presence. He is full of Holy Sprit Joy! I wish we could all be like him. I am so touched tonight after watching his visit to the synagogue and St. Joseph’s Church.
