Angela is going through a “naughty marker phase.” This means (not that most of you need an explanation) that while the older kids & I are busy (but distracted) in the classroom, 3-year-old Angela is busy (but very focused) somewhere else.
You know that Precious Moments figurine on my nightstand? Too perfect, and way too white.
You know those schoolbooks that someone inadvertently left in the hallway? Boring! Let’s add lots of doodles.
Scribbling on one’s own hands and face is fun but optional.
We never know which household object is next in line for a good branding, and have more or less come to expect her “artwork.” When I saw, though, that Angela had attacked my much-loved little teacher’s plaque, (a gift from a former student), I may have groaned a little louder than usual.
“Dang it! Must that girl get her hands on everything?”
My husband looked it over and remarked, (dryly, as is his infuriating way), “Well, to teach is to touch a life forever….
“…and clearly she’s touched yours.”

Hmmm…my students all say I’m a little “touched” but I don’t think they mean exactly the same thing…

Those husbands always know the right thing to say at the right moment. Magic Eraser has been my lifesaver with Maia (my three year old). I have found masterpieces on my walls, on cabinets, in my prayer books…everywhere.
