Famous Last Words

August 10, 2007 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Living Liturgically, Minnesota Me, Spiritual Growth 12 Comments

Today is the feast of that much-loved martyr, St. Lawrence.

So! If you’re planning to fire up the grill this evening for a nice little piece of salmon or something, consider sharing with the kids the words of our dear deacon, who, on his death “bed”, (aka the gridiron), said to his executioner:

I’m finished on this side. You can turn me now.

I should be that cheerful when coming under fire (or over it, as the case may be) for my beliefs!

As always, you made me smile this morning. We’ll have to do something charred yet yummy. And thanks for reminding us it is Friday.

In honor of no lurking day… I am a home schooling mom to 6 kids (3-14yrs, 3 girls then 3 boys). We live in Wmsbg, VA.

Thanks for sharing your days, it helps when mine are long and the only adult conversation I get is “I’ll be late.”

Well, the kids found me. God bless.

Our pastor mentioned this quote during the homily this past Sunday. Now if I could only remember how it tied into the homily itself.

I think I’m de-lurking? Have I commented before? I have a blog for my baby #5. . .but I’m too chicken to go public. Maybe I should, since I love reading your blog and am tired of having no comments. Guess my fam is not talkative. . .

Happy Anniversary! I really enjoy your blog and feel like I know you. Well, I know someone who knows you, so I guess you could say I vicariously know you, eh? Anyway, thanks for sharing your wit and life with us other home school moms. God bless you.

Happy Blogoversary! I suggested also to have barbeque in honor of St. Lawrence’s Feast day, but I don’t think my friends saw the humor:)

We had already finished dinner when I mentioned to DH that it was St. Lawrence’s feast day. He said, “Shoot! We could have grilled out.” (Our parish is named for St. Lawrence.)
