Someday: A Wee Gem

May 19, 2007 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Minnesota Me, Reviews 4 Comments

I thought that I’d put off my lesson-planning share with you the briefest of reviews of one of my new favorite books.

Someday is not, perhaps, the best pick for an over-emotional mommy who feels that her babies are growing up too fast, but it is a very touching little tome, regardless. It’s one of those children’s books that speaks volumes to a mother’s heart, you know? My children, too, really liked it.

I saw this book brand new at Barnes & Noble, but they also have it at our library (which is where I first discovered it).

I had better not read that any time soon. I just sent my baby girl off to the prom tonight and I am barely holding back the tears!
Ok, actually I am not holding them back at all…

I just saw this book a few nights ago at Barnes and Noble. I read it quickly while standing there and tears welled up, but didn’t spill out :). I love those kinds of kid books. Sometimes when I’m reading them to the kids, I have to pause and take a deep breath. The wiser ones often lean over to check my eyes to see if I’m tearing up or just pausing. I can usually fool them, but not when my voice chokes up. Never thought I’d be like that, but the older I get the more sentimental I get.

My folks are coming to visit over Memorial Day and this looks like a perfect book for my DD to read with her grandma. I just requested it from our interlibrary loan. Thanks for the recommendation!
