I attempted a Yorkshire Pudding in honor of dear St. George yesterday—my first ever, and I had no idea what to expect.
Well, is this the desired result? One of my kids approached the table and said, “Oh! We’re having….playdoh?”
No, I don’t have a photo.
And certainly I have no idea why he would have said that.
PS. On a slightly more delicious note, today’s homemade soup was a success! I chopped up last night’s leftover roast and sautéed it with onion. I added a can of this and a can of that (specifically, a can of corn; a can of cannellini beans, and a can of diced tomatoes) and added water to make it “soupy”. Simmer for a good two hours, sprinkle with garlic powder & enough sugar to cut the acid of the tomatoes, and….whew. My reputation was reinstated. The troops consumed it.

Many years ago, I tried a fig pudding for Christmas Eve dessert – what could be better right? The English sing it’s praises, demand that it be brought out and once so they can commence devouring it.
My husband and his mother liked it. That was it. As soon as my husband turned his back, I threw the remainder in the garbage can. I’ll stick with American pudding, thankyouverymuch.

LOL — I’m glad that I didn’t have any liquid in my mouth when I got to the Playdoh part! LOL

I’ve never cooked Yorkshire pudding and I’m British through and through. Well done for even trying!
(I must say, I’m with your kids on the Playdough, though.)

After reading this, I was a bit nervous about making mine tonight. I know we’re a bit late, but better late than never. And did you know St George is the patron of tankers? Probably an offshoot of the cavalry patronage. Anyway, my recipe called for four eggs and two cups of flour with that amount of milk. It turned out pretty well. My beloved asked for seconds, but he might just have been really, really hungry.

LOL at the playdoh comment. So funny.

I love Yorkshire pudding. We make it with the drippings from a standing rib roast on Christmas. Yum!

Funny, I have a feeling that my kids would have happily eaten the “playdough” and turned up their noses at the soup!
