Fishers of Men

February 18, 2007 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Cultural Commentary, Minnesota Me, Religious Life, Spiritual Growth 7 Comments

…is an awesome, amazing, inspiring film.

Have you seen it yet? According to the publication The Catholic Servant,

“Fishers of Men is being shown in seminaries, high schools, parishes and dioceses, at youth gatherings, and in private homes. Numerous young men have responded to the call to priesthood after viewing it, but it’s also affecting others by changing how they view the priesthood, and their own call from God” (Barb Ernster, The Catholic Servant, February 2007).

Watch it here.

And then buy it for your family here.

    Margaret,
You are right…this movie is beyond awesome. My 9 year old son saw it at Mass as part of a Called to Name weekend. I’ve never seen him riveted to a screen like that. His school then showed it a couple of weeks later during a vocation day, and he came home raving about it. He has since asked to see it again.

I was recently told that the 2 key ages for a boy to hear his vocation is 10 years old, and 10th grade. This movie would be a great way to open a boy’s heart to the possibility of a call to the priesthood. I can’t help but wonder what message God is trying to send my son through this film.

Margaret, Michael said it made him want to be a priest! I cried through the whole thing it was so beautiful and powerful. What a gift this video will be in calling God’s people to serve him. Love,
    Tina

We watched this film during the vocation talk at Destination Jesus this weekend. It was the second time I’ve seen it and I LOVED it both times.

I finally got a chance to watch this, and WOW! Even though I have all girls right now, I am going to have them watch it. I think we can relate it to any vocation to which God is calling them – nun, mother…
