A Journey, not a Destination

March 3, 2014 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Gratitude, Marriage, Minnesota Me, Motherhood, Spiritual Growth 6 Comments

Or, From Here to Eternity

On Friday, my family went to the ice caves. It was an all-day day trip; we got home after 10:00.

Ice Caves IIWe walked a mile just to get to the ice caves.
This felt more like FIVE miles on the way back.

On Saturday, my husband and I went on retreat. We were out the door by 8 a.m. and did not get home until 8 p.m. (We watched a movie with the kids to make up for abandoning them.) We did Mass as a family on Sunday morning, and then were back at the retreat from noon to five.

All that to say: it’s been a very full three days! My house is trashed, understandably, and I am trying very hard to put first things first this morning. (Thus, the blog post. ☺) Random Question: Why are there cotton balls all over the house? Seriously, I get the errant toys & books & crumbs & bedding…but what were they doing with all those cotton balls?

I’m thinking, perhaps, some extreme winter craft?  Or maybe the girls staged a destination manicure…in every single room in the HOUSE?

So yeah, it’s hard not to feel overwhelmed today and I’m [trying to] take St. Teresa of Avila’s advice:

It is not as important to think much as it is to love much.

(I’ve amended that statement to “It’s not as important to clean much…”)

I will be back tomorrow with the winner of the give-away. Meanwhile…thank you for the encouragement to keep blogging. I am praying for every commenter by name today and if you’re “Anonymous,” well, God knows where you live!

With love & thanks & joy & mess,

It's all about LAYERS, Charlotte: layers of clothing, layers of lunacy…

Sounds like a really cool place to go…(pun intended!)
I love the pictures you've shown so far!

All Mondays are hard…cotton balls and all!

I'd love to hear about your retreat you two went on, care to re-cap?
    Praying for you today too!

It wasn't exactly a retreat, Jamie; it was just easier (and faster) for me to word it that way. John and I attended a community weekend for the People of Praise. We're thinking–and praying–about joining their community. : )
