In Giving Thanks

November 21, 2012 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Gratitude, Minnesota Me 10 Comments

Nini Sleeping

I haven’t been taking very many pictures lately because—sigh—my favorite camera lens is broken and, frankly, at this point fixing it is just One More Thing.

So I haven’t.

Last night, though, as I knelt by the side of my bed to thank God for the day…

And to beg His forgiveness for my list of transgressions…

Which lately seems as long as a sheet of to-do’s on the day before Thanksgiving…

I happened to glance at my sleeping 3-year-old. His hands were clasped and his visage, so peaceful. His day was done and it had been so busy. Now it was time for him to rest.

I’ve been very busy too. You know what, though? I’m thinking that you can relate to this. My prayer, then, is that we might join our hearts—you and me, in praying for the multiple needs of our family—that on this day, and tomorrow, and throughout the extremely busy season of Advent…

We might be at peace and we might be thankful.

Yes, there are many things that we lack—material needs, certainly, but also so many virtues.

Yet there are also so many things that we have.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

I'm sending you a GOLD medal for kneeling by the bed at 8 (?) months pregnant. How the heck did you get back up? Heehee, I can find any excuse NOT to kneel for my prayers, and now I'm totally convicted by your beautiful example. Happy Thanksgiving!

"So faith, hope, love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love." 1 Cor13:13

If nothing else, we have these, my dear friend.

I WILL count you among my blessings, and I will ask God, won't He, pretty please, answer your prayers.

    Love ya.
