Arachni-Bathroom

February 13, 2011 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Hearth & Home, Honest Blogging, Minnesota Me, My Girls 4 Comments

I have a really bad habit of leaving my mugs and water glasses lying around. See that coffee cup on the classroom shelf? That’d be Maggie’s from two days ago. See that glass on top of the dresser? Yep, that one’s been there just as long.

What’s worse, there is usually a half inch or so of liquid still in the cup, which either A. Evaporates away, leaving a crusty stain, or B. Molds.

I know, I know! It’s an extremely bad habit, and is par for the course of my distracted-to-the-extreme nature.

Last night I was giving George a bath and asked Cate to bring me a glass of ice water. Naturally I forgot it on the counter when we’d finished, so I asked Angela to run and get it.

Yes, I send my children on lots of errands. Tell me you don’t do the same.

A minute later we heard a shriek. It appears that Angela had retrieved the wrong glass, and had helped herself (as is her way) to a generous gulp of its contents.

“Mom!” she yelled. “A spider peed in your water!”

Which wasn’t true.

I don’t think.

She then added, “It…tastes…awful!” This was true, I’m pretty certain, though I chose to take her word for it.

Let this be a lesson to her. Let this be a lesson to me.

PS. You can go back to enjoying your beverage now.

I've got the same bad habit. Cups everywhere. Though usually my husband collects them before the mold grows. I'm lucky that way.

And sending the children on errands. I do that too. How else can anything ever get done?

Sending children on errands… isn't that one of the perks of HAVING children?
