A Question of Quality and Quantity

June 12, 2010 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Just Me, Minnesota Me, My Girls 13 Comments

Thursday afternoon found me both tired and cranky. (Scandalous, I know.) We had been going & going & going all day and still we had obligations—a baseball game for Joe and (simultaneously, at a different field) a soccer game for Cate.

Who decided we were a sporting family, anyway? I blame my husband.

So yeah, tired and cranky, that was me. (And yes, I know I should have written “That was I” but like I said, I was tired and cranky!)

I dropped Joe off and then drove a block to the nearest McDonald’s (scandalous too, I know), where I purchased my latest drug of choice: a large caramel frappé.

Seriously? These drinks are like crack for this addled soccer mom.

“What are we doing at McDonald’s?” Angela knew better than to ask for food, having been fed a double cheeseburger from Burger King not an hour earlier. (I know! I know! Stop judging me.)

“I’m worn out and cranky and needed a coffee,” I replied.

Not that they needed an explanation.

“You do sound tired,” Angela said sympathetically.

“I am. That’s why I got a coffee.”

“You know what I think?” came the chipper response. “I think you should have gotten two.”

(Next time, with her permission, I will.)

I love, love, loved Frappe's until I got the courage to look up how many calories….eek. I'll be doing nonfat caramel cappuchino now for 1/3 the calories!

I know! John and I were just saying the same thing!

I order them without the whipped cream but still. I think I need a new addiction.

Dang it. Now I have to get a Frappe when I head to the grocery store. I will have 3 cranky kids with me, so it's not optional. Right?

I think I need to borrow your kids LOL. I only get a coffee out for a major treat now and then, but unfortunately I gave up coffee. Yes, you read that right 🙂

Am I so lame that I just long for a glass of crisp cool Chardonnay or Pinot Grig. Coffee drinks just don't do it for me after 9 am:)

it doesn't help that (at least here) they have giant billboards taunting you to go and buy those darn frappes everywhere you turn…
not good. for anyone. thunder thighs or not.
i sure love your girl's take on getting two. what a kindred little spirit!

ps. as for the garden…weeds count as growth, don't they?
