Babies, Blankets, Books & Bars

June 15, 2010 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Family Fun, Minnesota Me, New Baby, Sports Stuff 12 Comments

If you bring a baby to the baseball field, you’re going to spend a lot of time entertaining him.

Pop Fly III

That is to say, a LOT of time.

That is to say, the whole time.

Pop Fly II

So what if his brother is pitching a no-hitter? (He wasn’t, mind you, but it could happen.)

It’s far more fun to play with Daddy.

Pop Fly IV

Sort of gives new meaning to the term “pop fly,” don’t it?

Pop Fly V

Catch one’s breath…

Pop Fly VI

Giggle…

Rinse & Repeat.

When Dad moves on then you move on. He wants to spend some time actually watching the game? Fine. Let’s see what Big Brother’s up to.

Revel IV

He’s hogging all the revel bars, is what he’s up to.

Revel III

But not for long.

Revel I

Ha! Thought you could hide them, didn’t you?

Revel V

I’ll just help myself to…

Revel VI

Intercepted.

Revel VII

And dejected.

Revel VIII

You ever wonder what original sin looks like? This is it. “You dare to tell me what I can and can’t do? You dare to thwart my will?”

Revel IX

Okay, fair enough!

Revel X

So long as you feed me.

Revel XI

Mmph. Delicious.

Revel XIV

Moving on.

Revel XV

Or am I?

Revel XVI

That looks so good I’m going cross-eyed.

Revel XIX

Over the lips and past the…

(Don’t worry. I won’t bite you.)

Revel XX

One last taste and that’s it, I mean it. There are people to bug see and games to play.

Blanket I

Huh. Sister’s certainly no fun tonight.

Blanket II

Smiley, yes, but fun? No way.

Book I

They do say if you can’t beat ’em…

Book II

Well, you know what they say.

Fine.

That’s what I’ll do then.

Book III

And a most excellent read it was, I tell you!

Book IV
Upside down and all.

Ed. Note: The blankets and jackets in this post were not props. Alas, they were oh-so-necessary! We have had unseasonably cool temperatures as of late…and clouds…and rain. This may sound good to my Texan friends but it’s getting old for us Minnesotans!

It’s a good thing we come from hardy stock.

It’s a good thing we bake bars.

I love seeing the world from the eyes of a babe. How exciting! Nothing melts my heart more than seeing a dad play with his babies…sigh! And those Great Brain books are a favorite here as well – except my boys are old enough to actually read them 🙂

He is beautiful! I know, I know, boys are supposed to be handsome, but I just can't help it! He is beautiful and looks the spitting image of his momma!

P.S. That "original sin" face is so expressive. You know just what he's thinking, don't you!

What a cutie! How old is he now? My little one is almost 16 months now. It is amazing how time flies. Sure looks like he had a good time. Hope his brother had just as much fun playing the game! Haha.

And yes, us Texans are wishing we could borrow a bit of your cooler weather. Especially here in Houston, where we have an awful heat wave stomping down on us. We should just do school through the summer and take our vacation in the fall! Hmm….we really should. Why didn't I think of that before? Advantages of homeschooling.

I love when you write from little Anthony's perspective. It's so funny!

I'm with you, tired of the cold, dreary, rainy days. You're right though, nothing that a good pan of bars can't help. 🙂

Love the tidbits from Anthony! Super cute!!! Caught some sun today–it was nice to see it really is there–somewhere….gone again. Glad we hadn't had a game yet this week–although I think umbrellas for the girls have helped keep them happy. Wow, reading already and upside down mind you, such talent!!!;)

I love your pictures! We also are having many gloomy, rainy days and I dare say that it is getting quite old.
    God Bless.

Enchanting! I'd like to eat some of those bars (I printed the recipe . . . it's starting to stare me down . . . this would make my kids love me forever, wouldn't it????).
    Aloha, darling family!

I was pleased to see that "Spaceman Spiff" was along for the event, via Cate's lap…. it's a grand way to pass the time! Thanks for posting the photos!

Very cute post! What a great place to be……in the middle of June….in the middle of baseball season……in the middle of whatever the weather may be…..I just love spending the time OUTSIDE with the kids!! (Especially after our hardy Minnesota/South Dakota winters)!!
Same story for us, just different state. Wish we had a tourney up your way again this spring!!

We would love to exchange places with you for about a week… given its been hitting 34 on a regular basis here. 34 CECILIUS that is!(That's about 92 F) and humid as all get out… and no we do NOT have central air so the way to survive this uninhabitable climate is plug a window unit in the largest house in the room and buy two kiddie pools for the porch (cause we do not have a yard to speak of as we are living in a 3500 sq foot 100 yr old house that is owned by the church and was used for classes… so the back yard was sacrificed to mobiles which means we have LOTS of storage LOL)
Interested in a one week trade – we do have ceiling fans in the bedrooms… and we are only THREE (Okay four!) blocks from the library… I know how you love libraries… =)
