A Friendly Reminder

May 7, 2009 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Minnesota Me, Motherhood, Special Events 12 Comments

Only three more days until Mother’s Day.

Have you purchased a card for your husband’s mom yet? 🙂

Ad Jesum per Mariam,

PS. Thank you, everyone, for your prayers in response to yesterday’s post. The recipients of said intention are doing much, much better.

(The stress of this pregnancy was taking its toll on my marriage, just so you know. My poor husband. My poor kids.)

I once had a friend named Patrick who grew tired of his live-in girlfriend. He gave her a generous move-out-by date which, deeply saddened but resigned, she accepted.

On the day of the move, Sandra was standing silently at the picture window. Suddenly there was a loud creaking noise—an enormous crack, a gigantic crash—and a huge tree limb dropped from a decades-old oak onto Patrick’s car, smashing the roof and shattering the windshield.

Sandra turned slightly from the window and, arching one eyebrow at my friend (her former boyfriend), remarked, “Never underestimate the power of a woman.”

To which I say, again and again and yet again, “Never underestimate the power of prayer.”

Amen.

I got the cards out all except my grandma, which I forgot!!! We’re sending one today. It should be there by Saturday.

I did pray for you even though I did not mention it in the comments yesterday. You got my email, so you know where I stand right now, too!

My poor hubby and children are stressed as well and I’m not helping. Thank goodness this is all temporary and this too, shall pass. Remember they agreed to “for better or worse”. Unfortunately, sometimes they feel like the worse is the WORST! KWIM?

Except, perhaps, for crashing tree limbs?

I am a regular reader and I enjoy your blog so much (usually from afar), but I had to say thanks today because I never thought about it before how I always buy my husband’s mother’s day cards. It made me laugh so hard. And thanks for the heads up as well.

You crack me up, Margaret! Thanks for the encouragement to be in prayer…you are so right, but so often it doesn’t feel like I am DOING anything when I am praying…but I am, aren’t I?

I am a regular reader of your wonderful blog, and I am grateful for your candor. Blessings on you in this last month of pregnancy…

Margaret, please email me, my new email is:
    jamiejo99@gmail.com

I don’t have installed what I need installed in order to push your “email me” button, and I lost all my contacts with that hacker thing!

I have a beautiful prayer that I read in my “Holiness for Housewives” book tonight in the chapel. It’s meant for you and all expecting moms nearing the end!

Margaret, you are hilarious!!! The cards are bought. Actually, they are the cards from last year that I forgot to send.

I’m even more scatterbrained than hubby.

Well, it wasn’t exactly an answer to a prayer…maybe an answer to a mother’s wish. LOL

I wanted to be able to put my feet up for Mother’s Day.

    Guess what?

My three-year-old broke my toe in church today with a kneeler.

ROTFLOL!!! Be careful what you wish for.

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST to all of Minnesota mom’s readers:
Our son Jonathan is dating a lovely young lady from Tennessee. She is the second oldest of six. Today we learned that her 14 year old brother Michael received last rites this morning. He is in hospital and they think he has a rare from of eColi that is not treatable. Last we heard his kidneys were rapidly deteriorating.

Please pray for this wonderful homeschooling family of six children and this young boy of only 14! We are praying first for a full recovery, second for graces for the family to carry them through this time and for safety for Jonathan and Alicia as they drive to Tennessee. Praying also that they get there in time for Alicia to be with her brother – if that is even possible.

This is so sudden. We are all in shock.
