It’s the weekend, which in my case means more relaxed blogging!
(Though granted, this blog has been pretty consistently relaxed since…oh… Baby Anthony was born 4 months ago. Who’s got time to be cerebral?)
(Don’t answer that.)
Here I am with our birthday breakfast of choice: rich & buttery, hot & caramely Monkey Bread.
(Note the little monkey in the background. She’s doing a happy dance.)
Supper was Angel Hair pasta and wings. This is pretty standard fare for the Feast of the Guardian Angels and was made all the more delicious by the contents—cough cough—of that goblet.
(I didn’t cook the wings, mind you. I asked my husband to stop by Buffalo Wild Wings on the way home. Next year I’ll be prepared, because I could have made four times as much for the cost of those 18 wings.)
This last photo is one that I include “in all humility.” (That should be a category on this blog.) My eyes are squinchy and Joe is shirtless; Anthony is about to cry and the cupboard doors are open; and that cake…
That cake.
Let’s just say that when you’re frosting your cake at 8:00 at night and you don’t have enough frosting…
You make do.
We do a lot of making do around here.
And the ice cream covered the bare spots.
Have a good weekend, everyone! Don’t forget the ice cream.
PS. My new iPod Nano is really, really cool. It’d be great if I understood it.

That looks like a great bday. And thanks for sharing the little imperfections of the day…good to know you ARE human and live with REAL kids! 😉
I shared your bday post with hubby and dropped several hints toward an iPod. He returned home after work mentioning that the details of understanding the iPod via internet reviews was confusing and a hassle. Strong indications that one will not be given on my bday…maybe my Christmas stocking instead? 🙂

I wish you didn't have to bake your own cake, but that's what moms do. I hope you picked your favorite flavor!

That's the best! And the cupboards are always open at my house, too. You know they're open at lots of houses, people just don't like to talk about it;)

I should lend you my teenagers to explain how to use the ipod – that's what they do for me!

Hello,
I just wanted to say hi and wish you a happy birthday! I have always enjoyed visiting your lovely blog. You have such a beautiful family! Congratulations on the birth of your little boy Anthony – love the name!
You are so blessed to be a Mom! I met my husband Ed on a Catholic Singles website and we were married on the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, June 16th 2007. When we were married two years ago I was almost forty one and hubby was almost forty three.
Hubby and I would love to have a child. We have been TTC for two years now. Eight months after marriage I was diagnosed with endometriosis stage four and I've had two surgeries so far. I turned forty three in August and we are still trying, but we are quickly losing hope. It seems that at age forty three the few fertility signs that I did have are diminishing even more. Still though, I try to hope and I pray.
May I ask you: Did you pray to St. Anthony to be able to conceive? St. Gerard? I believe I've already prayed to every Saint especially our dear Blessed Mother!
I love to encourage and pray for Catholic wives and mothers. I will remember you and your family in my rosary.
May God Bless you and your family!
Love,
Maria Therese In Mass

Love this post, Margaret. That would be a great category for us all, "in all humility!"
By the way, EVERY cake that I make goes virtually unfrosted on the sides. It's not even an issue of not having enough frosting, it's an issue of ability 🙂
We just take pictures from the top!

Happy Birthday, Margaret! A little late, true, but it is fun to extend your birthday out as long as possible!
May God bless you greatly in this coming year!

You know Margaret – you are just PLAIN pretty – doesn't matter if your eyes are squinty in this Picture – you are just so darn pretty! Really! I think part of it is that you are usually radiating a glow, especially from your smile. 🙂
