This is why I don’t serve Red Velvet cake for first birthdays anymore.
It was a frightfully good cake, I’ll say that much.
Lots of Coffee, lots of kids. It's a peaceful life.

I’m Margaret in Minnesota, and this is my mom's-eye perspective of a kid-heavy life. I love the Lord; I take lots of photos; and I try to always tell it like it is, from sex to depression and everything in between! I hope you enjoy your time here. ♥
I LOVE that picture! And that is my favorite cake! Too cute!
How cute! I have a picture like that for each one of my seven kids' first birthday. When I look back, it is always bittersweet… laughter mixed with tears! I love the idea on your other post with the napkin and the birthday cake… I really enjoy decorating cakes, and I KNOW I will use that idea at some point! JMJ
Wow! If you crop that picture right, one might think she has an especially NASTY skin condition.
Soooo cute! I think a 1st birthday has been properly celebrated only if the birthday kid requires a bath after cake. Clearly Angela's 1st was a proper one!
Reminds me of my son's first birthday (11 1/2 years ago): I was determined to make a fire engine cake (it was modestly successful) but learned that the huge amount of red food coloring needed to tint the frosting properly (it could not be a pink firetruck afterall!) was REALLY hard to get out of clothing and skin!
No more red cakes for us either…we stick to decorative touches that use red M&Ms, Twizzlers, Starbursts, red hots…you get the idea!
Looks like a terrible case of road rash! Wow…I never thought red velvet cake could be so…so scary!
i found your blog through an NFP magazine a while ago. i love your humor!
and this is hilariously terrifying.
