The Great American Blue and Gold

February 18, 2008 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Minnesota Me, Moments of Incredible Joy, My Boys, Special Events 9 Comments

…was indeed where we were this afternoon.

Thank you, everyone, for playing! (Please pick up a door prize on your way out.)

The Blue and Gold Banquet is the culmination of a year’s worth of hard work on the part of our Cub Scouts. Both of our boys advanced to the next level of Scouting, which means that Joe is now a Boy Scout (sigh) and Jem, who just yesterday was bouncing around in his bright orange Tiger Cub t-shirt, has earned the rank of Webelos.

It goes fast, my friend. It goes very fast.

Here is a photo of my Smilin’ Joe that you may compare to last year’s photo. The handsome fellow on the left is not Jem but was so very earnest and endearing that I let him stick around for the photo.

“You may be cute, kid, but the fact is you’ve got drool on your chin.”

Evidently this gentleman took it upon himself to augment my husband’s appearance for the better. Either that or the two of them were planning a heist after the banquet.

And to close, a little more blue…and a little more gold.

Blessed be God, I say, in His angels and in His Scouts.

Happy 2nd Week of Lent.

Ad Jesum per Mariam,

Looks like fun! Ours is tomorrow night and I wondering “where in the world” did you find just blue and gold m&m’s? Very creative!

The kids and I had been talking about how you can special order M&Ms in the colors that you want, which is a very pricey option.

We took the cheaper route by buying two bags of plain M&Ms and picking out all the blue & yellow ones!

How fun!! We didn’t get to do scouts this year, but we can’t wait to do it again! Congrats to yours!

I have never seen a scout in the long sleeved uniform before! (we live in Texas) 😉
