Ten years ago today I was lamenting the fact that I’d worn a dress that buttons down the back to my 9-day-old baby’s baptism.
What kind of crazy, nursing momma wears a dress that buttons down the back? To a formal event? Followed by a reception at your mother-in-law’s?!
A clueless nursing newbie, that’s who.
Oh honey, you have taught me so much about life and about loving and about the all the beautiful embarrassing moments that Motherhood entails.
Happy Spiritual Birthday, Joe!
You have gone from being a brand-new baby Catholic to being a young man in the Church—and one who is old enough to serve Mass now, I might add!
We love you, Sweetie.
Do all things for God and He will do all things for you.

On Monday my friend and I were laughing about the fact that 5 years ago we were both new moms who had to retreat to the bathroom to nurse our babies at her son’s baptism. She also had a button-down-the back dress on! Happy day to your 10yo!

I am thrilled to be able to meet him on such a wonderful day!

I wore a one piece pull-over dress to my second child’s (first nursing one’s) baptism. He was 6 weeks old, but quite used to nursing every 45 minutes. Don’t laugh, but I ended up, half undressed, in a locked room that they use for brides to get ready!
I was sure to wear a top and skirt to my childrens’ baptisms after that!

That hits close to home. For Princess’s Baptism I picked a particular dress just because it had buttons down the front. I had already discovered the problem of one piece or opening in the back dresses for an event the previous month. I’m so grateful I had learned that one in time for Easter and her Baptism one week later. 🙂
