After an absolutely gorgeous day yesterday—that is, if you think sunshine & temps in the 70’s are satisfactory—our Saturday is starting out cold & gray. No matter. We can find our Easter joy elsewhere, right?
Here are where my thoughts are this morning.
- Pregnancy tests will give you a false positive if you leave them sitting out long enough. Do I really need to expound on this? I didn’t think so. I will say that it is a very disappointing thing indeed to think that one is pregnant for Two Whole Days and then find out that no, not really. You were wrong and such was not God’s will for you. Thank goodness I didn’t rejoice about it with the kids! Though I did send a couple of premature e-mails… : (
- Despite its horrible title (and equally obnoxious promotional poster), the movie In the Land of Women is really quite good—well written, expertly acted, and just a lot of fun to watch in general. Tina & I went to see it last night and found that, given the film’s interwoven themes of mother-daughter relationships, aging parents and dealing with cancer, we had plenty to discuss on the way home!
- And finally, I have pulled a much-loved little tome off the shelf in the hope of getting back on track with God and all. In Conversation with God (Volume 2, Lent and Eastertide) is so, so good in getting (and keeping) both your Lenten fervor and your Easter joy. I opened the book this morning to this past Monday’s reading on the mortification of the imagination. How did the Holy Spirit know? How did He know?? “Get rid of those useless thoughts,” I read, “Which are but a waste of time.” And how about, “The dreams of the imagination are often centered upon our own talents, how well we performed a particular action, on the admiration—unreal too, perhaps—which we provoked in certain people or in our own environment…”
These are helpful words for a busy, buzzy little blogging bee like myself. All too often I get caught up in my selfish needs and I worry way too much about what other people “think” of me. (Which is to say, what I think they’re thinking!) Well, for heaven’s sake. The here, the now, the happy is all that matters. A Godly perspective in all things!
Have a blessed weekend, my friend! And I do mean that.

I’m so sorry Margaret. I am praying for emotional peace for you for a little while. It has been a rough six months, I know.

I’m sorry about the pg test Margaret, I have had that happen too many a time… I think some brands are worse than others. 🙁 Agreeing with Jennifer and praying for peace for you. 🙂

I’m so sorry about the test. I know this has not been an easy time. A good friend once reminded me that God’s timing is perfect, and it is…but it’s hard when our hearts yearn for that time to be now.
Orayers your way, and thanks for mentioning the book! You know how I love your taste..:-)

Sorry about the test, Margaret. I know how disappointing it is…Perhaps the good Lord is making you wait until your good friend Jane conceives, too, so that we can share the joys and complaints of pregnancy together!
