…about my mental health, especially after that last post, I am writing to reassure you that a bit of fresh air (cold air, granted, but very fresh) did me and my sons no end of good.
The trip to the library helped also, as did the 50 books we checked out there.
Wonderful, seasonal fare such as:
Oh, and did I mention the stop at Wal-Mart? I think that place is a panacea for almost every emotional ill that might befall a stressed-out home schooler.
I feel ever so much better now that I am the proud owner of:
- brand new dry erase markers
- new pens
- new notebooks
- new pencil sharpeners (have you ever gone a week without having a pencil sharpener on hand? Talk about penitential, both for the teacher and for the student who has to re-write everything! And where do those things run off to, anyway??)
- Alavert (to fan away the fog that has recently surrounded me)
- a packet of purse-size kleenex (see last entry)
AND (this is the best part)
- three brand new bird feeders: one for the finches, one for finches and their friends, and one wee little hummingbird feeder that’s as cute as the hummingbirds we hope to attract.
Except: there’s this weird wire-like thing inside the clear plastic part of the hummingbird feeder. My sons insist that you take it out and use it to hang the feeder; myself, I have no clue.
