Oh no! Another Poem!

February 15, 2007 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Homeschooling, Minnesota Me, Really Bad Poetry 10 Comments

This one’s for Dawn.

Home is Where the Cold Is

Home is where the cold is.
It’s the Minnesotan Way.
And a winter without frostbite
Is our goal throughout the day.

To stick our tongue upon the flagpole
Is to prove our Northern best;
For despite the pain we’ve shown our mettle,
Though the dare was done was in jest!

Our cars are all one color;
They’re a lovely shade of salt.
And if ever I rear-end you,
I can say, “It’s not my fault.”

But the best part of all is the beauty,
Our stately pines are dressed in white.
And each day we pray for please? More snow?
To bathe our landscape in frosty light.

Greetings from the Frozen Tundra! Come for a Visit!

This message was brought to you by Crazy Minnesotans At Large (a nonprofit organization, because really, who would pay to join?).

    Re: Crazy Minnesotans At Large,

    I walked into one of my classes in college one day and saw two students arguing about the merits of their respective home states.

    The argument grew louder; then one of the students, in a fit of boyish enthusiasm, climbed onto a chair, and waving his arms, announced loudly, “Minnesota is the True Holy Land, and God is on CENTRAL TIME!!”

    I love your poems, btw! 🙂

    I love the poem. You are so creative! And that is the cutest snow bunny I have ever seen— and in its natural habitat, too!

    Right after I read this the snow just came tumbling down. Ahh the beauty of living by the Lake. Thanks for the wonderful poem.

    You have the best “really bad poetry” (what a funny tag too) — that I have ever read. Thanks for the laugh as we’re iced in!!
