What do you love most about today’s feast? Is it the beautiful, colorful, miraculous image? Is it the humility–the littleness–of Saint Juanito Diego? Or is it the very good excuse to eat good Mexican food?
Pour me another margarita, please.
Even though I am French (100 percent!) I love and lean on Our Lady of Guadalupe. In fact, just this morning I was telling her, “I’m stressed, dear Mother. I got too much on my plate. Please can you help me be at peace with all this?”
Boom! Crack of thunder. Zap! Flash of lightning!
Not really.
She did send peace though, almost immediately, and oh, how grateful I was to receive it.
With that in mind, I have a couple more book recommendation for you. The first is this book, which includes beautifully illustrated pop-up pictures. My kids love it; I love it; I would do a giveaway right now if I had an extra few pesos to spare. Forgive me! I am a poor little peasant.
The second book is Our Lady of Guadalupe for Children. The Kindle version is only $1.99, which is both extremely affordable and instantly gratifying! We’ve only read one chapter since I bought it this morning, but so far I really like it. I especially like that she includes questions and activities at the end of each chapter, that it’s written in both English and Spanish, and that she’s based her story on one of the very first books written about this apparition.
Blessed feast, everyone! Is she not our mother? Of course she is.
