Now Playing on Netflix

January 19, 2015 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: #StreamTeam, Family Fun, Minnesota Me 3 Comments

So maybe you’re a bit bummed by the play-offs like me, or maybe–just maybe–you’re ecstatic.

Either way, the odds are good that you’re on holiday today (we are) and you’d like something fun to do with the kids. How about a pet-themed movie and popcorn?

Because you know what they say…

When the Packers lose to the team that was losing, after COMMANDING the game for nearly all four quarters, you need to drown your sorrows in something cute and mindless.

Wait, what?

No, seriously, if you haven’t seen Milo and Otis you must. My kids and I know this movie by heart, and I couldn’t love Dudley Moore more for doing it. “Otis.” {croak} “Otis.” {croak}  “Otis.” {croak} Great stuff, and a great transfusion for bleeding green and gold.

If you’re really feeling adventurous, you could make hot cocoa with cat-shaped marsh-meows to serve alongside. This is, of course, assuming you own a cat-shaped cookie cutter, but if you do and have never made homemade marshmallows…

Well, congratulations. You are Just. Like. Me.  (I’m thinking, how about buying some at the store instead and just, like, flattening them out with a rolling pin?) Or you could serve up a bowl of homemade Meow Mix alongside, with whatever yummy little bits of goodness that you have on hand: goldfish, mini-chocolate chips, chex cereal, nuts.

Whatever you want! Have fun! Happy viewing!

Oh, and one last thing: if you’re lucky enough to have a real live pet in the house…well, cuddle them for us ’cause we do not! It’s a {sigh} allergies thing, but oh how we’d love to have something fluffy to love.

Oh well. A cute pet-themed movie is (kind of) the next best thing.

Milo & Otis is one of our favs! Well, it always was for the big kids, but so far the little girls just don't seem to 'get' it and wander off every time we start watching it. What the heck??!!
Hopefully your movie watching day was delightful and full of yummy snacks.
