…someone’s decided that he’s quite enough celebrating, thankyouverymuch.
That would be a white chocolate-dipped pretzel, by the way.
Minus most the chocolate.
Little does this kid know that we’re still celebrating! Indeed, we’re having his very own godparents over tomorrow to celebrate…wait for it…his first birthday that was, like, last year.
As in, that was so last year. Literally.
Well, kid, you’re gonna have to get used to having a December 20th birthday. We were all far too busy to get together then, but here’s the thing–the beautiful thing. Francis was baptized on the feast of the Epiphany, so we’ll be celebrating his spiritual birthday. As in, one year ago tomorrow, he was born into the family of God–a brand new Christian, a sparkly clean soul.
Original Sin has left the building! |
That’s worth celebrating, don’t you think?
On the menu, we’ve got:
- Baked Ham;
- Sarello’s Whipped Potatoes with my dad’s ham gravy;
- Barbequed Beans;
- Orange-Glazed Carrots;
- Lemon Bars (for our priest who loves them and who is coming for dinner); and
- Gingerbread Cake with a 12th Night fève baked in.
Francis may not remember his first {spiritual} birthday, but my mouth will.
How about you? Are you attending any Epiphany parties? If you are, do me a favor and bring your camera! I was so inspired by Tracy’s beautiful end-of-the-year album that one of my (14) New Year’s resolutions is to take more photos.
{emphasis and potential downfall mine}
I want to see the world through an artist’s eye!
And I want to capture my kids’ goofy photo bombs.

Sounds delicious! We'll be right over!

You'd be more than welcome! You can hold the birthday boy (aka the little fusspot) while I prep the food.
Meghan says
Done! 🙂 I wish. Of course, considering the fact that the weather is going to be so awfully cold and our van would probably cry the whole drive down, maybe we'll take a raincheck.
Isn't it always the case that they are the fussiest when you have yummy food to prepare? Maybe you could just hand him another pretzel?

If I vowed to take more pictures, my family would laugh. Not possible. (as in I take way too many) I think it stems from my childhood, where my parents took little or no pics at all.
My camera is my therapy.
Happy feasting!
(your meal sounds wonderful)
minnesotamom says
Jamie, I've got maybe ten photos from my childhood? Now compare that to our kids…!
scmom (Barbara) says
Have a ball, baby! (Can you name that movie line? I'll give you a clue…it was one of my 24-year-old's favorite movies — even though it's just a tad yucky — so it's pretty old.)
That little man is pretty darn cute, mushy face and all. I'd LOVE to come and play all day.
minnesotamom says
Huh. You got me stumped on that movie, Barbara–stumped but curious!
scmom (Barbara) says
Embarrassed to say "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" but it's become a fun, familiar line in our family!

Bring on the photos eh! 😉

What A sweet baby picture! Love it!
