(Volume X for Me)
Today is my friend Jenn’s birthday. Happy Birthday, Jenn!
Jenn is proof that great good can come out of Internet connections. She and her blog have blessed my life in ways too numerous to describe in a Quick Takes Post—ways that are quirky & cute & inspired, just like her.
“It’s a spider!” Angela squealed. She was delighted…
Swing by Jenn’s blog if you haven’t already. Stop by to wish her a blessed day and to see her cute and creepy Halloween blog header.
“She’s a Goth!” laughed my husband, and I rolled my eyes.
“She’s not a Goth,” I replied. “She’s Jenn.”
And oh, how I just love her.
Speaking of husbands.
This is a picture of my father and my husband, otherwise known as my two favorite men.
(My father’s on the left.)
When my husband asked my father for my hand in marriage, my father replied, “Well, she’s a handful.”
My husband married me anyway.
And that tells you all you need to know about my two favorite men.
For anyone who’s been wondering, my oldest son is doing well at school. He just had his end of the quarter evaluations and isn’t failing anything!
I have more or less overcome my angst at his being gone all day. My biggest problem now is overcoming the desire to (pre)teach all of my other children everything that Joe is learning at his school.
Have I mentioned that I struggle with pride?
A couple of weeks ago, several of my children participated in our homeschool co-op’s annual Saints and Scholars production. The theme was “Will you die for me?”
Felicity was Mary, Queen of Martyrs.
Jem was St. Tarcisius.
And Cate was St. Gianna Molla.
Baby Anthony made his stage debut as St. Gianna’s daughter, Gianna Emmanuela. Isn’t she he darling?
I am sure that Anthony will eventually forgive me for that embroidered pink dress.
As will his father.
On Tuesday we went to the apple orchard. It was the one sunny day that we had this week.
- The little girl represents me, reaching out for that red apple;
- The apple represents all those warm sunny days that we never had;
- And the tractor trailer is life, which just keeps rumbling on by regardless.
Deep Thoughts by Margaret on a Friday.
Five-year-old Angela will sometimes complain that she doesn’t have this or that necessity. She says it like this:
“I have none milk.”
“I have none straw.”
“I have none napkin.”
Etcetera.
I have yet to correct her for this grammatical error, thinking that maybe if I don’t she’ll stay five forever.
This is wishful thinking, I know.
What can I say? I have none qualms about keeping them young.
Yesterday we were on our way to piano.
I was lost in thought—a hundred thoughts—just like always. The endless rain, meeting Daddy for lunch, my son’s cross-country meet that afternoon…
My mind was a jumble of to-dos and to-don’ts.
Suddenly Angela called out, “I saw a truck full of porta-potties!”
And that tells you all you need to know about my life—my crazy, happy, random life.
Visit Jen here to see all of the Quick Takes from today.
And have a happy (if not sunny) weekend!
All for the greater glory of God,

Thanks for the 7 quick chuckles! It made my otherwise dreary day. Where did that morning sun go?

Margaret, Cate and baby Anthony totally made my day. What a perfect costume! I love St Gianna Molla and I am sure Anthony will forgive the pink dress.

I love your 7 quick takes. You do a wonderful job summing up your days as a mother.
After a gloomy and very rainy week that just didn't seem to go right, I am SO looking forward to a sunny weekend (YAY).
Have a wonderful weekend!

Your father's comment to your 'now husband' really made me laugh. When Eric asked my dad, my dad said, "Well, you know she's moody don't you?" Thank goodness he still married me, too.
Fun to see all your other 'takes' as well.

Margaret, you made my night. #1, my 4 year old says 'aminals' and I refuse to correct her!
I am in love with your dad. What a funny guy!
Anthony was just precious in pink. I remember way back when you announced the pregnancy. I prayed so hard for you…
He looks so big! My Sara was born in Dec. 08 and they look about the same size!
