(Vol. VI for Me)
And that’s all that I will say about that.

Me to my husband: “We never should have taught that kid to read. He would be much more productive if he were illiterate.”
Keep in mind that this kid prefers reading to almost every other activity.
Scratch that. He prefers reading to everything.
From the category of Did he really just say that?
Jem thought it was exceedingly funny when he referred to me as “an American nesting doll.” I sniffed and responded, “Well, unlike the Russian nesting dolls that we have sitting on our shelf, I only have one baby in my tummy, not five.”
Thank goodness.
I once considered writing a post entitled “Things Go Missing.” I never did write it, probably because I was too busy looking for things that had gone missing.
Case in point: On Thursday morning, I asked one of my sons to go get his spelling book. I needed it because—don’t laugh—Cate and I had written out her book review on one of its blank pages. (We were at piano lessons, okay? We needed a piece of paper.)
My son couldn’t find his spelling book, however.
And so we searched…and searched…and searched. We looked in his book bin and his brother’s. We looked in Cate’s book bin and in the bookshelf in the piano room. We looked in the van; we looked in the recycling. Finally, with an audible gasp of remembrance, my son went bounding down the stairs to the basement.
It seems they’d had a game going on a day or two before. They were travelers, see, and needed a school book to be a…prop.
Call me crazy, (and I’d agree), but I never would have thought to look for that spelling book in a purple pillow case in the basement.
In other news, my first quilting class went well! The class is being taught by an amiable older woman named Millie who, from the sounds of it, has been quilting for decades. Let’s hope her patience level matches her expertise, eh?
So on Tuesday evening I was having a grand ol’ time listening to Millie explain the whys and the hows of the course when most unexpectedly, she pushed back her chair from the table and said, “Alright, ladies, let’s go pick out the fabric for your quilt!”
Ack! I’d had no idea we were to decide on our quilt colors that evening! Quick decisions are so not my style, but I muddled through and ultimately decided on a quilt for the family room. (I will, after all, be spending many a night with a newborn there. I may as well be cozy.)
Here are the fabrics I chose for my quilt:
And that’s all that I will say about that.
I’ll close with one of my favorite photos from last weekend: a little girl taking her turn at Wii baseball.
Note that she is still being very much…a little girl.

And have a beautiful weekend, everyone!
