…was not my choice.
Springing ahead on the 9th of March meant, for this Minnesotan:
- Driving through snow and ice to get my very early morning holy hour.
- “Resting in God” during my very early morning holy hour.
- Waiting for my replacement to arrive at 5:00 a.m. Resting in God some more.
- Greeting my replacement at 5:45 a.m. “Did you know that the time had changed?” she said, completely flustered. She was so apologetic that it was cute. I forgave her on the spot.
Springing ahead on the 9th of March meant, for this Minnesotan:
- Sleeping through our normal Mass time (which may or may not be 11:00 a.m.)
- Feeling thankful for the “sinner’s Mass” option at 5:00 p.m. (I’m teasing. Don’t take offense at that.)
- Looking outside on this “supposed to be springy” day and seeing snow, more snow and—did I mention?—a heck of a lot of ice and snow.
Springing ahead on the 9th of March did not mean, for this Minnesotan, “springing” ahead at all. It meant lagging way behind.

Funny – it means the same thing here in Dallas! I feel so tired and off schedule today. And we’ll be at the “sinners” mass at 5pm today too! Just couldn’t make it this morning and didn’t want to force the kids up at an unusual hour and have a grumpy day! Luckily this week is spring break so we have time to adjust before getting back to our normal routine!

I know a bunch of people who confused the time change. Sorry it affected you.
I am heading to the 6pm mass tonight. This weekend has been VERY FULL … State swim meets both Sat. and Sun. I also went to a concert with my husband. With all this excitement, the time had to change (ahhhhhhhhh).
Mass and early to bed.

LOL, I always call the Sunday 6 PM Mass “the Mass of Last Resort.”
It’s always packed, though. Usually with TEENAGERS and without their parents. I think it’s great that they get there.

What a day, Margaret! Losing an hour of precious sleep always makes this my least favorite day of the year. In a few months, the fall time change will work in your favor (I hope!). I’ll look forward to that with you!

I call it the “drunkard’s mass” but I like Barb’s title better!

I thought I was going to fall asleep at the grocery store today. This time change is hard. You’re post made me giggle, though, so thanks. I love your writing. 🙂
