Here are a couple of cute kid stories that I dutifully saved while on my break:
First, in the “I thought I’d heard them all” category, comes four-year-old Felicity and her plaintive:
“Mommy, if I finish all my supper and my dessert I won’t have room for breakfast.”
(Therefore she shouldn’t have to eat all of her supper to get dessert. Not bad for a lawyer’s daughter, eh?)
Second, from the bulging annals of “My mom is an old geezer and I have no idea what she’s talking about” category comes this exchange:
3-year-old Angela is lying in bed trying to avoid sleep at all costs. She hears her mom & dad shuffling about in their bedroom and hollers, “Goodnight, Mommy! Goodnight, Daddy!”
I call out: “Goodnight, John Boy!”
Pause.
“I’m not a John Boy!”
Okay, so these were cute to me.

Looks like you’ve got TWO lawyer’s daughters to worry about there! Precious!

I can’t resist the “Goodnight John Boy” every so often either. LOL! But the kids DO NOT get it. (Hmmm, Middle Sister is home sick from school today. Wonder if I can find a “Waltons” rerun on sometime? We can snuggle up and watch.)

Cute to me, too.
I love those moments of negotiation, as well as the old TV/movie references that make me feel ancient.
