August 10, 2007 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Blogging, Gratitude, Minnesota Me 36 Comments

Tomorrow, August 11th, is the one-year anniversary of the inception of…

…this blog. (Not that I’ve been paying attention or anything.)

Coincidentally, it is also National No Lurking Day!

Which means (providentially for me) if you’ve been hanging out and having fun here, you need to tell me so tomorrow.

Or today.

Hee.

Here are some little known facts about this blog:

  • I was going to call it Minnesota Morning and then I saw that there’s a CD by that same time and furthermore, that it’s trademarked. Being married to patent attorney, I knew better than to go there. So I switched.
  • I am not the most computer-savvy of people. (Okay, so that’s not such a little-known fact.) I did, however, figure out how to start up this blog all by my little ol’ self in the wee hours of the morning. (Blogger makes it very easy to start a blog, by the way. And it’s free.) My husband came downstairs the next morning and I said, “Guess what I did last night?” You could hear his cries of “Nooooooooo!!!” throughout the neighborhood.
  • And finally, here is my very first post.

Have a blessed weekend, everyone! And thank you for visiting.

Posting another comment just because I cannot stand the comment counter saying “1 brave souls”

Now it will say “2 brave souls”, when really it is just 1 grammatically obsessed soul.

It’s been a whole year? Wow! I love to visit you in the mornings.

My favorite post is the one about buying pregnancy tests in bulk.

    Thanks for sharing.

Wow, congratulations to you!! This occasion makes me think of the song “Thank you” by Ray Boltz. Just think of all the people you have influenced in some way or even just made smile! I thank God for you on this special day the feast day of St Clare, maybe she is the new patron of bloggers?

Why can’t I get my name to stay blue?

I’m delurking to say thank you for taking the time to write on your blog! I’m a convert to Catholicism and I’m just starting out on the road to motherhood with a daughter age 4, a son age 2 and a newborn daughter age 8 weeks. I find lots of inspiration on your pages. Thank you especially for writing so honestly about your miscarriages. I lost a beloved son in a late miscarriage last July and have found comfort in your reflections.

    Hi Margaret,

I recently found your blog through a link from Danielle Bean. You brighten my day and I love the way you write. I do not have children of my own, but reading about your child-rearing experiences is a hoot!

Happy Blogiversary to you. I knew it was coming up, but I didn’t know the exact date. Lucky you to have it fall on delurking day, but bummer that so many of your regular readers must be at the Real Learning conference in Virginia.

Ah well, though I wish I were there, I’m glad to be here to wish you a happy blogiversary and say that I’m glad you started this blog and I hope you keep it up.

    Hello Margaret,
I have been lurking for the past few months & have found it to be quite uplifitin. I often find myself giggling over one thing or another & sharing things with my DH. As a cradle-Catholic learning more about my faith everyday & a mother to 3 under the age of 7, I find much inspiration & hope from you. THANKS!

    Dear Margaret,
Only a year? How can that be- I feel like we’ve been friends FOREVER! And one year ago on August 11, my dear little Eve Benedicta was born. So you and Eve (“the mophead”) have lots to celebrate together.
You have sustained me during times of trial (thanks for the prayers regarding my recent miscarriage), have inspired me with your lofty thinking, have amused me with your humor, and truth be told, you have my husband wondering just where and what your tattoo might be!
During this year you have pulled together a whole group of people to form a communion. Your sharing and your blogging are truly bringing others closer to God, and hopefully you are benefitting as well! God Bless You!! And congratulations from one of your biggest (6 foot tall!) fans! I love you!
