I am way behind in the meme department, with four (at last count) on the docket and hopefully none that I’m missing. Memes are tricky things; on the one hand, I am always pleased to be picked because in grade school I almost never was, (insert small sad sigh for the non-athlete in me), and yet, on the other hand, I always feel a strong sense of obligation to get them done in a timely fashion—like they’re a paper that’s due or something—and if I don’t get them done spit spot I procrastinate. Did you know I was a procrastinator? I’ll tell you about it later.
Here’s the first meme, if you’re still reading. Thank you, ‘Meg, for thinking of me. I think that you’ll regret you did. 😉
A Picture of Now, Between Past and Future
1.a. Describe your outfit.
A rose-colored t-shirt and a pair of shorts.
b. What associations does the main color invoke?
Is this like one of those ink blot tests? Are you going to judge me if I say “nothing”? Should I be coming up with something clever? Leave me alone! I just got up!
c. Is there a memory associated with this outfit (or part of it)?
Nope. It’s just what I wore to bed.
2.a. Are you listening to music?
Nope. Just the hum of the fridge. Hey, it just stopped! What could that mean???
b. Was this intentional?
The hum, you mean? Or the stopping of the hum? Does humming bother you? Do I bother you? Should I stop?
c. What does the music make you remember?
I’m hungry. I should eat.
3.a. Describe the objects within arms’ reach.
An empty Gatorade bottle (Camille calls it “LaterGade” ‘cause we always say “Later, Gator” to her. Cute, huh?), last night’s dishes (because we had gotten a babysitter while we went to IKEA to look at classroom furniture, and don’t you think she’s got enough to do taking care of my five urchins?), my husband’s wallet, loose change, and cell phone/blackberry thingy (the space behind the computer is his hot spot), my iPod earphones (whoops! Our hot spot) and……naturally…..my mug of coffee (half full not half empty, and always within arm’s reach).
b. Choose one object and tell where you acquired it.
My iPod was a Christmas gift from my hubby. I wear it when I run (not away from him, mind you, but rather, on the treadmill. When I run. I should run more. Why haven’t I run this week?)
c. On the whole, are the objects new (memory blanks) or old (memory filled)?
Stop psychoanalyzing me. We’re talking dirty dishes and coins here.
4.a. What room are you in?
The kitchen.
b. To what extent is it yours?
You’re still psychoanalyzing me. Stop that.
c. What kind of memories will you have in the future of this room?
Dirty dishes notwithstanding, I have awesome memories of this room: making cookies and play dough with the kids at the counter (though not at the same time—too confusing), playing Settlers of Catan at the table, (especially when I win), eating dinner as a family and making the kids recite their poem-of-the-week before we let them have dessert (because we’re mean), and finally, standing here at the computer, clack clack clacking away happily and revealing to the world my true obnoxiousness.
5. What were you doing before starting this post, and what would you like to do next?
I was sleeping before and would like to make my morning meditation after. Perhaps I should have prayed before answering these questions; I might have been less (but only slightly) obnoxious.
Next up: The “8 Things about You and Your Hubby” Meme! Be there or be spared!
And as always, have a blessed day.

That was a really good one! I know what you mean about “being picked”! I always feel obliged but lately I’ve been scowling at those things like I used to about those “pass this along to 10 people” emails!
